Looks like De Zerbi is the next in line

I think he’s a great choice, but would he back himself to keep this squad up? It’s a really tough choice for anyone to take the job on a permanent basis now, given the very real threat of Championship football next season.

It’s a (potential) poisoned chalice. Who currently in a top level job will take on a team that could well go down? It’ll take a lot of money to entice anyone currently in a job in the top tier.

It’s a Sean Dyche maybe?

I wonder if Spurs fans would take Ange back now?
Funny you should say that. Heard a phone in on my drive back up to work this evening and a Spurs fan was advocating in bringing him back as he knows the players and gets wins when he first comes to a club. Ironic really as it was the league form under him that started the spiral of where they are now 😂

Dyche on a 3 month contract?

Is Sean Dyche the new break glass ?

Wasn’t the greatest at Forest
Perhaps I should have put Sean Dyche in “….” It’s that level of manager. Someone might have a big enough ego to take it on but who decent will be in the frame…
Possibly Phil, the new “Big Sam” recent experience of relegation worries, full back room team who know him and currently available.

Edit to this:
Dyche got 22 points from his 18 games at Forest, he had only lost 1 of his last 6, over a season that’s 40+ points on Avg. Did he need to go?

Pereria currently has 11 points from 9, so same avg.

He very nearly took them down last year so I suspect not.
He always wins a trophy in his second season though so they would win the championship next season 🤣.

He is surely a better shout than Redknapp, Hoddle etc.

It’s unrealistic to expect a top manager to go there until they know what division they will be in next season

Ah, but then you have season 3 🤷

They need a short term stop gap to cover the last few games. The proper, new, manager starts the moment they know which division they are in next season.

I would be surprised if De Zerbi is appointed he’s already not popular with sections of the fans, if he comes and goes wrong it would go toxic pretty quick.

I’m also not sure his dealing with the ones running the club would work well.

Think we got a mole in from dark side 😂what person in their right mind would appoint someone that lost 8 games then was sacked.

It’s a conspiracy I tell ya😉

It does amaze me the selective memories of some fans, or what they are willing to overlook. As you say, the football was naive at best, complete chaos at worst, and started the absolute slump of league form.

Next manager odds have De Zerbi odds-on at 1/7. The rest of the betting looks like random guesswork given that Solskjaer has somehow arrived at third favourite, 14/5. 🤨 Ben Davies is only 16/1. 😂

Being realistic who would you like?
Both to the end of the season and next man for next season?

Yes. He took 2 points from a possible 9 from Leeds, Palace and Wolves - all teams who were mostly playing awful football. I'd have expected at least one win from those 3 - specifically Wolves at Home, which, alongside Leeds away, was some of the worst football I've ever seen Forest play.. He was great and picked up some key points early doors, but he was running the team into the ground, threw ALL of the squad players under the bus and flat out said they weren't good enough and we were playing with absolutely no confidence at all and exhausted as he refused to play a number of players. He also got rid of Kalimuendo after he'd just started finding form and replaced him with Pizza Crouch, who is one of the worst strikers I've seen at Forest (hopefully he comes good).

I've no doubt we'd have been relegated had he still been here and have seen enough from the performances under VP to know he better knows how to handle the last 7 games and additional European fixtures we still have. Not saying we'll definitely be staying up, but he's giving us a better chance. The players have some confidence back, we're scoring goals again and the fringe players finally look like they've got a bit of confidence back in them after months of either not playing a single minute, or being given 5 minutes at the end of a game, expected to work miracles.

On another note, the less said about De Zerbi, the better. He'll probably be good for Spurs in footballing terms, but seems like a bit of a questionable character, having backed Mason Greenwood - but that's just my opinion.

Dyche got a lot of support from the fans early doors, but a lot of your issues were in place before Dyche took over.

Maybe it would be waiting until the end of the season to see if replacing him was the right decision

We bought him in too early. Had we bought him in now, he'd have seen us over the line. But the drop in performances was abundantly clear. We definitely had issues prior to him coming in (and sacking Ange was also the right thing to do at the time), but after a few good results early on, we looked awful against championship clubs and made Leeds look like prime Madrid, before barely securing a point against an out of form (at the time) Palace and bottom of the table Wolves.

By contrast, VP has come in, and been unlucky not to get a point against Liverpool (save for a VERY close VAR call), come from behind twice to get a point away at City and progressed two rounds in the Europa league - with fringe players starting to find form (because they're actually being given game time).

I wanted Dyche to work more than most - it was a fairytale appointment, with club legends Stone and Woan in tow as well - but anyone who has watched us week in, week out all season would see how obvious it was that he was taking us down.
