Since I became aware of the significance of today's fixture, was convinced that whoever lost would be the third team down. But thought it would be Forest as was not convinced we could win. Spurs now need to up their game else I may be proved right.
I don’t think they can, they have been awful & in free fall ever since ange gave up on the league last January

Well Arsenal have not turned up in the 2nd half and the better team are now 2 nil up. Perhaps will do Arsenal some good to suffer defeat here and make them work for the competition they’re still in.

This playing out and allowing it down from the back has caught them out today.

If bringing in a 79 year old man that’s been retired for 9 years is what’s required to get this bunch of players up for the fight then there’s a lot more wrong at Spurs than anyone realised.

I said exactly this a week or so ago. It would be no different to United bringing Ferguson back as an interim when they sacked Amorim.

Get the reserve team coach, academy head or similar. Get them playing simple, basic football. You've got 3 weeks to do defensive drills, before the next game. They have to become tough to beat. It's the Allardyce, Dyche blueprint. They don't hide what they do 🤷

I get your point but more of the same, from a different voice only, isn't going to cut it.
Drills with who? They’ll all be away on international duty!

As much as I’m sure we’ll all be happy our 2nd favourite team was won the trophy, did the commentators mention the O’Reilly shirt pull before the first goal?

But he has been crowned King of the Jungle since his last management role. That experience might just be what the Spurs players need :)

I don’t think age or years retired is this instance in my opinion is relevant. It’s for 9 games. Andy Carrol has just won his 1st game in management with Dagenham. He’s then a proven winner on a roll, bring him in. At this stage it’s all about getting points on the board.

Now there’s a turn up. City put in a performance in the second half. 😳

I was gobsmacked that Arsenal had no real cutting edge. Arsenal need to bounce back from that. It’s odd how a trophy/comp that some clubs would be happy to see gone is now silverware of importance 🤔

It’s quite embarrassing that it’s even suggested as an option. 9 years away from the game as a retired manager if that’s the best option then shows the state of A) Football management in general, B) Spurs in ability to do anything but live in the past on reputation

Vastly different a player that’s just retired so has been around the game at this level seeing what the players are about than a retired pensioner and Spurs still living in the past instead of admitting how many cock ups they’ve made over the years and trading of very distant glories.

Nil-Nil yes, dull No. It’s been a tactical battle and you can see both teams are trying to carve out opportunities but are both defensively excellently organised. Finals are very rarely end to end, balls to the wall attacking affairs as there is just to much to lose for both side. This one has been better than most but it’s understandable.
Sorry - as a neutral is was incredibly dull football - and despite the two goals the 2nd half wasn’t much better - just a grim watch.

I’m also a neutral but I fail to see how that was dull. Yes it wasn’t end to end but you’re never going to get that in modern football finals there’s to much at stake. It was however a very clever tactical battle with strong defensive displays from the top 2 managers and teams in the country.

But each to their own 🤷🏼

Not for all of the break, not with every player. At the very least, you set the rest of the coaching staff up with what you want to happen. You put everything in place.
He may get a week once the international break finishes, but pointless if your main players are absent.👅

He’ll have some players but equally important he’ll get a chance to work with the coaches. I’ve just had a look at Spurs remaining fixtures… oh dear! They need a seismic shift in performance and fortunes.

To be honest the first half didn’t surprise me one bit. I thought City slightly edged it but after 40 mins they never had one attempt. 😳 it was always going to be cagey.
The first 10 mins of the second half I never saw as I was sealing my patio with a second coat. I came in as Missis T was bouncing off the ceiling due to Kepa having hold of Doku. Ave still not seen it. Speaking of Kepa, it made my day seeing him have another stinker against City in a Carabao cup final. Still remember when he would not leave the pitch playing for Chelsea.
That second half for City was as good as I have seen them play all season. It’s amazing what can happen when you play players in there right positions.
Nico OReilly, what a player, 2 goals from the left back position, surely he is a definite for the World Cup. And unfortunately Foden won’t be.
It’s the squeaky bum time of the season and Arsenal need to step it up, big style. The pressure will only increase and someone in that team needs to start leading or the quad could be the Prem league only. I suppose they would of taken that at the start of the season.
