Gyokores hmmm ah yes I remember him , Brighton flop and dumped . 😁
Did well abroad against poor sides compared to the prem sides .soon to be sold by the gunners as not fit for purpose in my opinion.
Jury is out for me

Gyokores was a bairn back then. Slow to develop, but great for Cov and exceptional abroad. This season, his goal scoring isn’t great but not bad. However, his team play & assists are right up there.

To be honest, I think he’d make a better 10 than a 9.

Hugely disappointing to see multiple reports of racist behaviour towards players on social media

Fofana posted multiple messages from his own fans with racist abuse
Reflects perhaps a change in the societal/moral mindset of some - or a change in their willingness to express long-held attitudes openly. Little if anything to do with football. Grim and very sad. See also ‘Dear England’

I was going to say it must have been his performances against good sides in the Champions League. Although, having looked at his record, I think he only had one season in Champions League, 1 in Europa League. In Champions League, his hat-trick against Man City stands out, then he had 3 goals in his other 7 games (1 each against Lille, Sturm Graz and Leipzig). Season before, it was 5 goals in 9 Europa League games.

When there was talk Utd were interested, I was always skeptical. On one hand, perhaps he could be good. On the other hand, he was still at Coventry in his mid 20's and then looked to have a couple of good seasons in Portugal. So I felt was he more of a functional striker that could be a nuisance, or did he have star quality that deserves a high transfer fee? He certainly doesn't feel like your rolls royce attacker like Henry, Bergkamp or Van Persie. And he hasn't been a goal scoring predator, yet, like Haaland or Van Nistlerooy. If a fit Chris Wood played in this Arsenal side, would he have scored as many goals as Gyokeres?

Everyone wants to be a number 10 now. When I was a kid, everyone wanted to be a striker, an out and out number 9. I miss those days, not many pure goal scorers now. Less pressure I guess, but less glory as well 😊
I always wanted to be a No. 3 goalkeeper. Lots of perks, decent salary, but no risk of getting injured in a game or abused by fans.

There is even a picture of some guy trying to show Rice a picture of his wife that they had “blown up” to make her look very large - very sad
It’s happened several times over recent years that his wife has come in for abuse and also social media comments saying “he can surely do better”. For me it just shows how vile and sad society is that people would do this kind of thing.

Would it stop the feigning of injuries
No, because 9/10 they just go down and wait until play is stopped, refuse the physio and get up after a short while. Unless they have to go off irrespective of whether they had treatment, it will make no positive difference.

Do you try the rugby method of just playing around them?

If the ref has to stop play, or the ball is deliberately put out of play by their side, the player has to go off...might work.

The GK feigning injury for a tactical time out needs sorting too. Not sure how. Maybe if the physios are called on then they have to leave the pitch and sub GK between the sticks for a minute...or until the next break in play.

I would just say that players are not allowed to go to the sideline to talk to the manager during any “gk injury”

It wouldn’t work as the Offside Rule and the massive difference between a Try Line and and a Goal, a player lying down in the 6yd box and being treated by a physio would cause chaos.
You would have to make exceptions, just as they do in rugby. If a player is injured near a ruck, for example, the referee stops play to safeguard the player and the physio.

So if the Ref is going to stop the game anyway, it’s not worth considering as the point of the change would be to stop the feigning of injuries.
