If we beat City we will no doubt get Arsenal or Liverpool in the QF's (possibly made to play both of them at the same time)...then we will get the 1978 Argentina team in the Semi's and face the 1970 Brazil team in the final....refereed by Chris Kavanagh.

You won’t get Arsenal , they seem to be get some nice soft draws at the moment

No mention of last nights game? Macc were amazing. Totally matched Brentford, and sometmes bettered. We are aggregate 2-2 v premiership teams this season at home. Not bad really. A great effort from all the players and staff. I watched from the pub. A pub that was rammed on a Monday night. BBC Newsbeat were in there doing interviews. Fingers crossed we now get into the playoffs and play as well in those. I think we need a quality striker to link with what we have to get us out of this league.

Didn’t see any of it I preferred to watch the Cov v Boro match, that was a decent game.

TNT. As has been said it dilutes the competition. For sure I'd have watched it otherwise. Although might have had to switch to and from the Winter Olympics!

I think it has been diluted already with the lack of replays, playing other games the same day as the final and having the Semis at Wembley.
Not to mention teams often playing second string/squad players.
I thought maybe it was me just getting old but I asked a couple of youngsters today about the FA cup and they said it was nothing competition for them and they are Portsmouth fans

Very true. I recall as a youngster how massive FA Cup Final day was. Yes "day". Started early with the build up and special editions of Question of Sport etc. Limited live footie on TV meant it was a day you kept free and were glued to the box from early doors.

I think the FA Cup was massive because, for me anyway, I didnt have Sky. Many others I know didnt either. The only live football I ever got to see was:

1. FA Cup games
2. England Games
3. A selected European Cup game
4. A selected UEFA Cup game
5. A Serie A game every Sunday on Football Italia.

Never got to see league games, except on MOTD. Thus, MOTD was exciting and I always tried to avoid scores.

Now, we have football coming out our ears. 2-3 league games on Saturday, 2 on Sunday, usually Monday and sometimes Friday. We can pretty much watch any European game on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Then we have League Cup and FA Cup. Ohh, and internationals when they are on, and other European league football can be found somewhere.

There is so much football, the importance and excitement of FA Cup is diluted 100 fold. Not just FA Cup, all forms really. I love watching footy, but I was definitely more excited about any game 20 to 30 years ago, than I am now.

European games used to have a sense of mystique, as we rarely got to see the big global stars, was great seeing them up against the big English sides. Now, there is no mystique. We can see thousands of videos on YouTube of most top players, if we want. Even if we don't, algorithms often put the videos in front of us anyway.

Now, I only watch league games, international games (only due to lack of options that week) consistently. I'll always watch Man Utd. Other than that, FA Cup, League Cup or European, I'll watch occasionally if big teams are playing. But often not overly bothered. Loved FA Cup Final day in the past, but if they did it now, no chance I'd watch the build up. Overkill

Agree with all of the above, especially Swango who sums it up perfectly.

The Cup Final grew bigger from the late 60's onwards due to colour TV and lack of other live football. It was something really special, a country literally shut down and fans of neutral clubs would plan their day around it. It probably reached it's peak in the 80's. Some of my earliest memories are of the semi finals and then the final back in the early 90's as a little kid. It gradually got reduced in the pecking order and by the 00's with the temp move to Cardiff it lost a lot of it's magic.

That said, one of my dreams is to watch my team at Wembley and sing Abide with Me. I've been to a few finals over the year with mates and it's a great day but it would be special to see your own team there.

Vinicius JR maybe a talented player

But he really is a hugely unlikable person with his antics

Great goal , why then go and antagonise the crowd and the players and then throw his toys out when he is carded , winds up players and now it’s all kicked off with complaints from him of racism

It’s clearly a situation that he has created

Lucky he’s not had a red.
