I'm not sure how it is VAR's fault Haaland didn't get a penalty, assuming he was dragged back before corner was played. The ball was out of play, the rules don't allow a penalty to be given. I'd blame the rules rather than VAR
That’s correct, some need to get to know the rules before they complain.
City should have that game sown up in the first half they won’t get an easier first half all season, Spurs were awful and it was heading for a toxic atmosphere at the end.

Good performance from Spurs in the second half, but for City to be challenging for the title they must be kicking themselves for letting Spurs off the hook.

If that had happened to a Utd player I'd be livid
Me to. But I guess that is why referees have to always delay play for ages, to stop players grabbing each other before ball is in play.

The only way I can see it changing is if they change the rules, so that penalties can be given for holding x seconds before corner / free kick is taken

Exactly, without knowing who spoke first betwen Ref & VAR it’s difficult to get your head around it.

There’s lots of shirt pulling, fouls, grabs, etc during corners and a Ref csn miss something.

So if the Ref initiated the call, he may of asked, was there a foul on Haaland?
If the answer is yes, but before the corner was taken then he should, imo, order a retake.

If VAR initiated the call then what’s the point if there’s no action taken.

IMO, the corner should not be started when the ball is played but when the players start their runs to get into position.

The biggest villain are definitely City themselves. I've no idea what happened in 2nd half. Maybe they were in autopilot, let Spurs get momentum, and then just couldn't get back into gear once the crowd and Spurs players were lifted

Don’t be silly, we are reacting to what we are being shown on a TV screen, Sky showed the goalmouth, we see Haaland being dragged to the ground as he attempts to play the ball.

2-3 minutes later the commentators gave VAR’s explanation as to why they couldn’t get involved.

Nobody has said VAR was incorrect in their ruling.

VAR can only intervene if they think.it is a penalty that was missed. Which is what they were checking, as they always do. They can't recommend the corner to be retaken, not in their remit. And the ref can't ask corner to be retaken, as he already allowed ball to be put back into play, so can't go back before that point.

var can only get involved before the ball is in play if it’s for violent conduct or a possible red card offence

Rules? Do they apply to everyone?😉😁

Anyone saying "there's nae rules, they're laws" gets a 7 day ban!🤣🤣

Exactly this 👍 The. Order should start as soon as the ref blows his whistle. That’s when the game has started again.

I can see Pep blowing a fuse re VAR this season. Against Newcastle Foden was kicked after he had a shot. VAR turned it down for a penalty. V Spurs Ghuehi is kicked before Spurs players connects with ball and VAR don’t intervene. If a defender kicks a player before the ball in the box, it’s a foul and a penalty.
Once more am proper narked because it’s another week where VAR has I influenced a result when we should be talking about a good first half from City and a good second half from Spurs.
