Weren’t even that good , can’t really remember too many saves the UTD keeper had to make - closet they came was when the left back hit the bar

He does look very good though
Lewis Hall will be our next £80m+ sale. Wouldn't want to see him go but I reckon we could fleece Madrid for a few Peseta's in a couple of years time.

Think Joelinton's days are numbered....looking more and more like Boris Johnson the way he blusters into challenges....if someone in Saudi offers us £35m then I reckon we should take it.

There was criticism on here that Heaven was on of the worst centre backs in the League. Was immense tonight

If you think that was immense it shows how far your standards have slipped. Martinez was much better according to most rating sites and I'd argue he wasn't even that good. First clean sheet in 11 games is a shocking stat too.

Enjoyed the game but it was chaotic match, Newcastle will be gutted to leave without 3 points on the second half display. Never seen an away side run the game and have nearly 80% possession at OT unless up against 10 men. Feel it's a result that papers over the cracks. Newcastle were an embarrassment up top, Howe will be under massive pressure if he keeps gifting cheap points on the road.

I don't bother with rating sites just what I saw and Keane and Carragher thought likewise. Of course Utd need more clean sheets but it's a start.

Immense is Rio and Brown v Barca in 2008, not some kid getting by in a feeble 1-0 win v Newcastle. I know it sounds harsh but your club is bigger than that and the standards should be higher.

Agreed. He looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights a few weeks ago, but nothing got by him this evening.

I’m just at a bit of a loss as to why there was such a huge change at half time. Mount was a huge miss, as he was constantly dropping deep during that first half into pockets of space and, together with Cunha, pulling the strings. Some of their connections first half were excellent again.

Second half we looked like a different side. Dorgu switched sides and looked far less effective, and some of Amorim’s substitutions were questionable to say the least.

But it’s three points, and another solid display from Lammens. For a young keeper he’s settling in well, and commanding his area in a way Onana could only dream of.

Onwards and hopefully not downwards.

"That kid" is in there because of injuries to senior players. He stepped up to the plate and did his job.

Didn't Amorim leave a £55m centre back in Yoro on the bench for him tonight though?

Anyway, I like Utd and really hope Heaven steps up long term and you get back to where you belong 😎

Next 4 league games are crucial for Newcastle's season, anything less than 10 points from Burnley (a), Palace (h), Leeds (h) and Wolves (a) and I believe the clamouring for the managers head will increase to a level where it will begin to attract nonsensical questions from the press and be a distracting influence hanging over the rest of the season.

Anything less from those fixtures and we can kiss the season goodbye and drift into a lower mid table finish....should we somehow manage 4 wins, we will at least restore ourselves to a position where we could make a challenge for the minor European comps....in any event CL is certainly out of the question.

Second half was tough to watch for a Utd fan, but why expect much different?

Nobody thinks Utd are one of the best sides, with all their best players fit.

We then lose 3 players to AFCON, two of which are amongst our most important attacking players. Missing 2 of our most experienced players at centre back. Our most influential, ever present player is injured and his understudy Mainoo also unavailable. Mount looks good, and has to come off at half time. The team that finished that game looked like a League Cup side.

One of the biggest differences could simply be missing Bruno. The players have become so accustomed to his influence and direction, let alone his quality. It can't be easy to suddenly find that direction amongst themselves in the first game without him. I can see why Amorim felt it might be better to stick Zirkzee up front, to help the ball stick. Sadly, he had less success than Sesko at that.

Anyway, despite struggling to retain possession, we still defended the lead with some solid defending. Nice to see Dorgu score, and show some good attacking moments in 1st half.
