Newcastle player had his back to the Utd player and was moving away / being pushed away. You can't do much pushing and shoving that way.
That was a tough watch.
Fair play for winning 3 points but blimey utd are poor. Nothing there to suggest progress.

Only bit of quality in the entire game.
Newcastle could have played until New Years Day and still wouldn't have scored. Decision making in the final third was shocking.
Not a penalty in my view...ball is hit firmly from close range and the Man U defenders arms were typically where you'd expect them to be with all the pushing and jostling for position that takes place at set pieces. No real way the defender could avoid the ball which merely glances one arm, hits his chest, and then gets trapped against the other arm.

They lost it because they couldn't finish. Utd won despite playing badly as Villa did the other week against Utd.
Progress is the fact that Utd would have lost this last season

But how are they going to stop all the grappling and shirt pulling in the box if they use this as a reason not to give handball.?

Weren’t even that good , can’t really remember too many saves the UTD keeper had to make - closet they came was when the left back hit the bar

Not seen any of the game, and just seen the result on the BBC site. But Amorim is coming in for a bit of flack re his substitutions. Is it justified.

By giving penalties for any shirt grabbing. Players make a conscious choice when they grab hold of a shirt....they know they risk (or should be) being penalised but given that refs dont want to...because it would lead to half a dozen penalties a game...they know they can mostly get away with it.
Just takes a couple of brave ref's to start the ball rolling.
