On the plus side from last night...great to see Lewis Hall back on the pitch at left back. In the half hour he was on the pitch he demonstrated the agility and attacking ability down the left that Dan Burn, for all his attributes, simply does not have. Halls ability to interplay and overlap with Gordon down the left was a key part of our attacking ability last season and has been so obviously missing so far this term. Just a pity that Gordon might now be out for a while!!

As soon as we can get Livramento back on the other side of defence then similar link up play can be achieved down the right with Murphy (I'm afraid that Elanga might turn out to be a work in progress like the ceiling of the Cistine Chapel)...although Trippier has an ability that Dan Burn doesnt, in this regard, it is becoming more noticeable that he doesnt quite have the engine to get back as quickly as needed when he is caught up field and his days of being first choice at right back must surely be numbered.

Once Wissa is fit he will at least add another attacking dimension and take some of the focus away from Woltemade who has noticeably been heavily policed by defenders in a couple of the recent games. A different, less deep lying approach will at least give the attack some variety and make opposition defender think a bit.

Bradley had him in his pocket. Was equally impressive defending and going forward. I get you need a squad but Frimpong/Kerkez should get near first choice full backs ahead of Robertson and him.

Another plus from last night was Dan Burns headed goal! What a header that was! I don't think any other player gives you that ability. 😆

It is certainly a move that we have utilized before...the long floated cross out wide missing out on everybody in the middle for Dan Burn to attack...similar to his goal in the League cup final.

Didn’t know whether to put this in the Laughter thread or here but it’s footie related so 🤣.

Just seen a TikTok post my lad sent me about Gareth Bale making a tongue in cheek comment back to Carragher about Champions league wins just genuine banter between them. That’s not the funny part the fans comments are!

There literally 100s of Liverpool fans slating Bale for being an average player or “mid level” player at best stating what’s he even done in his career, even saying Carragher would have had him in his pocket, the comments are literally comedy gold 🤣 Even Has Barcelona fans who hate Madrid on there defending Bale!

Anyway not trying to pile in on Liverpool it just made me chuckle 🤣, plus in Liverpool fans defence I think it was a lot younger lads that even though Bale didn’t quit long ago probably weren’t watching a lot of football pre Covid but obviously know about Carragher as he reminds everyone he’s a Liverpool legend during his punditry !

What Gareth Bale has won in the game is quite simply phenomenal. I sometimes think he never got the individual acclaim as he never came from one of the top European countries or South American countries. I look at Neymar and Vinicus Junior and just think over rated. Re comparisons with Carragher, 🤔😳😂😂😂

They're obviously still bitter about the time he strolled off the bench and casually knocked two goals past them in the final.

When I think of Carragher's career, the only two things that come to mind are a) he scored a lot of own goals, and b) he declined England call-ups because he didn't want to sit on the bench.

I think Carragher was hugely over-rated by many (at least in Liverpool). Not saying he was shocking. Good character, good solid, local pro that the fans can get behind. But nothing special at all.

Or it’s just a very small minority of social media fans overreacting as we always see and dismiss

And Carraghers career isn’t too bad - over 700 games for the most successful club in English football winning multiple trophies including the biggest in European football

Well, he's in the England squad so I guess not?

I hope he picks Konsa and Quansah together.
The commentators would have a nightmare.
I always think we have a really good squad with lots of depth but looking at a lot of them players I am either very wrong or we have a lot of injuries

That is amazing spin.

You could also say he made over 700 appearances for a club that had been successful, but he was there for their famously lean years. As for winning the Champions League final, Liverpool were battered in the first half. Perhaps Liverpool won that final in spite of Carragher, not because of him?
