Being an unused sub in a 5-1 win is a fairly poor indictment of his fledgling Chelsea career. It will be genuinely interesting to see where he is in five years.

Made the same point to a Chelsea fan (one of the most blinkered I have ever come across) who defended him by saying that most of the first team were rested. This would be a fair argument until you look at his season so far, 2 x PL appearances, 1 x CL and then 1 on as sub. He's played 131 minutes this season so hardly in need of a break. If you're not going to play in last night's match amongst the youngsters when are you going to play him. I still maintain that joining Chelsea with the ridiculously sized squad is going to be one of the worst career moves he could have made. I know he only stayed in the PL to prove a point to United but so far that's not going well especially when you consider he could be at Bayern or any other number of top European clubs, probably getting more minutes in the process.

This didn’t age well.
Unless you were thinking it could be more 😂.

I don’t understand why they didn’t get rid of him during the international break though.
Bit of a delayed reply - been manic with work...but nope, aged terribly 😆

But I agree with him in this instance - there was literally no glimmer of hope or improvement other than 45 mins against Betis where we looked incredible. outside of this, set pieces just weren't being defended and just inexcusable really.

I think Marinakis has owned up to his mistake here by getting rid of him so soon....however, he definitely should have got him gone 2 weeks ago. I think he's probably given him the chance to have a full two weeks training with no games to interrupt things and said "you've got two weeks to turn it around" essentially.

But Ange knew he was gone - his team selection on Saturday was absolutely embarrassing.

Dyche wouldn't have been anywhere near first choice but the feeling has instantly improved - and as a *ahem* seasoned fan, seeing club legends Steve Stone and Ian Woan back in the dug out hits me right in the feels. I've fully bought into the PR train being peddled the last few days and am now ready to run through brick walls for Dyche and his terrorist style of football

There's an argument to be had that it's the first time he's been given a squad with depth and a club with investment - and he's said multiple times he'd "do well with money"....so it's now time to put his money where his mouth is!

tough ask to get anything from Tonight, but I'm really looking forward to it.

Everton are a sizeable club and Dyche didn't exactly uproot any trees there. But I would like him to do well for you though, I like the bloke. I think he makes Forest a little bit more likeable for the time being.

I agree - BUT he was there when they were an absolute mess with ownership uncertainty, a 10 point points deduction (which would have had them finish 10th or 11th under him had they not received it) and not like they had cash to splash in the transfer market. He did what he was bought in to do - keep them safe.

Let's not also forget, he managed to get Burnley into Europe during his time there. BURNLEY FFS. (

I'm not saying he's going to come in and start playing prime pep-ball and and we'll be threatening top 4 or 5, but there definitely seems to be an air of relief around the club and some of the sound bytes in interviews are definitely passive-aggressive nods to how miserable things got under Ange (in such a short space of time, that's quite impressive!)....in 2 days, he's galvanised the fan base as a whole and everyone has gone from dreading tomorrow night, conceding at least 3 goals from set pieces under Ange, to actually having a bit of hope that we can grind out some sort of result against a very good, in-form team.

He's been bought in to steady the ship and get the team playing like they did last season. Anything else at this point is a bonus. Will the football be dire? Probably - but if we're not losing every game by 3 goals whilst playing more attacking, flair-ridden football, I'll take that terrorist ball instead every day of the week!

He has strong ties to Forest (youth player under Clough regime, lives in the city, used to be a season ticket holder in A-Block) and all of his assistants have ties to Forest (Stone scored in our last European home game, Woan played in our last european team - both are club legends. Billy Mercer had a loan spell here etc..) so I fully believe they'll get the squad playing for the badge and giving their all if nothing else.

The first thing he said is that it's about the club and no manager (except Cloughy) is bigger than the club....Ange was the polar opposite - never mentioned the players, the fans, the history, the city. Everything was about him and his success. That's why he failed.

Could we have just avoided this and kept Nuno? Yep, absolutely; and most of us wish that was the case. But he forced his own sacking with his public comments (which even his assistants thought were crossing the line), so getting rid of him was the only option by that point.

Should we have hired Ange? Absolutely not. But Marinakis admitting it was a massive mistake after 39 days before things get even worse takes some bottle - given the predictable reaction to it. Is Dyche the long-term solution, probably not, but he's saying and doing all the right things so far and he'll be here til the end of the season at the very least.

EDIT: as a note - we've not kept a clean sheet since April....APRIL!! Maybe Nuno was part of the problem as well as Ange? He's got the West Ham fans turning on him already...so who knows - but if we can start getting a couple of those and grinding out 0-0 draws, I'll take it at this point!

I think he's a good manager but you never know these days, we often seem to see a manager do very well with one particular club and then not repeat it with others. I hope he does well though and proves that he is in fact a good manager.

Might be worth getting those Forest defenders back in Fantasy League again now. 😄

I'm bringing Milenkovic back in for sure haha.

But yea - Dyche has done fine elsewhere - but like any Manager, I'll judge him on his time at Forest. I'm a sucker for a fairytale, so having some club legends back in the dug out and our first european season since their QF run in 1995....could turn out to be something special. Probably not! but a lad can dream 😆

I was even willing to give Ange a chance - but having to drive 5 hours round trip to watch him stood motionless in the technical area not making a single tactical substitution whilst having to chase the game against some Danish part timers was the final straw for me.

How things can change quickly on football.

Just compare Forest from the back end of last season, to now. Still in October, 2nd manager change, and it is Sean Dyche.
Don't get me wrong - I find the whole thing ridiculous and we should never have got to this point.

Marinakis, for everything he's done - has got this whole situation (including hiring Edu - which was the catalyst to it all) horribly wrong - and I think (hope) he's realised that in his actions in the last week.

This should have been the best season in a generation with European football, £200m investment in the summer and a manager loved universally by the fan base.

It isn't, but but we are where we are so we're just going to have to deal with it 😅

What has happened to James McAtee, I expected good things from him this season. 😳

It does seem madness to appoint Edu in that role and let him sign the players he wants. Nuno was against both the appointment and the signings. That was only going to end up in a toxic situation which is what happened. It's even more mad when the signings were the type of players not suited to the football that got you so much success?!

If Marinakis wanted to change the style, he should've either done it at the end of the season and bought someone with that in mind to work with Edu and sign players for that transition. Or waited and given Nuno this season with his signings to try and win the Europa League or domestic cup. It was always going to be hard to balance European football with getting into Europe via the league.

The appointment of Ange who needed a long break from football to work with a mishmash squad was even more incredible. Throw in Dyche getting the job when he's got no experience of European football and it looks like 5 huge mistakes from the owner in a row.

I still think he's probably working on someone else to take over in the summer and move the club forward as he's got serious money and will be spenting a lot more. You have to hope he's learnt from his mistakes! Would love to see Forest lift the EL this season so hopefully Dyche is a success.

But you didnt actually play any football for two and a half months so the stat isn't that awful...(Surely you kept a clean sheet in pre-season?) :ROFLMAO:

Its like the muppets on commentary Tuesday night saying that Newcastle hadn't won 2 consecutive Champions League matches for 22 years....was repeated maybe 4 or 5 times during the match yet ignored the fact that up until the 23/24 season, the last time we played in the CL was 03/04!!!

Perhaps I'm just reading these all wrong, but didn't some great managers of the past struggle to get results early on before going on to make it large? Ferguson being the obvious example.
It takes time for any changes to bed in and happen, instant success isn't the result of change but sadly many fans and owners forget this.

He literally played in the Europa League with a tinpot Burnley team (and ironically the last game was a loss vs. Olympiakos)...but a lot of experience, no.

Other than that, I do agree to a point. He's definitely not thinking Dyche will be long-term solution and I wouldn't be surprised if Marco Silva comes in after this season (if he doesn't re-sign with Fulham). He would have been first choice, if not for the compensation - which we can't afford, given we've paid off two managers already 😆

Well it's 20 competitive games....so it's pretty awful (and we only kept 2 clean sheets in pre-season 😅)

Conceded 18 under Ange and scored 7 I believe (1 of those goals coming in the Premier League with 10 conceded in the league)

Perhaps I'm just reading these all wrong, but didn't some great managers of the past struggle to get results early on before going on to make it large? Ferguson being the obvious example.

Yep, but unfortunately it's a different game now and there's too much at stake financially. Ange would have stayed had there been any signs of progression. But 1 goal and 1 point in the league, in 5 games with absolutely no sign of progression, half of the players we signed in the summer not even in the match day squad and a manager not making any (or very little) tactical substitutions - it was only ending one way.

You could argue that he had plenty of time at Spurs and only trended one way - down. Yes he won the Europa league, but he was fortunate to come up against a manager who was as stubborn as him in terms of tactical style of play - and scraped through the final. I don't think we'd have been offered the same fortune.

My tuppence worth ...

Living in London, we're not overrun with Forest fans - but there's four of us in the golf club. Seems we all have similar opinions along the lines of...

Should not have got rid of Nuno.
Should not have appointed Edu
Oh my gawd, not Postecoglou ffs.
That he lasted 5 weeks is 5 weeks too long
Mmm, not sure about Dyche.

But we are where we are. Let's see what happens. And hope for a good night tonight

Trying not to jinx it but Reading are actually ahead in a game we desperately need a win 🤞

Well deserved win in fairness. Probably the best game I've seen from us this season. Defence looked much more solid with O'Connor and Williams in the middle. Wing was excellent and ran the game while Savage and Lane had their best games of the season. Just a shame we missed a few chances and Kelvin was doing his best to avoid getting into the 6 yard box. Let him off as his header was class!

Some winnable games coming up, should see us climb to midtable and hopefully push for the play offs. This league is so poor and bunched up it will only take 4-5 wins on the spin.

Only seen highlights again as work isn’t affording me time to get to games but looked decent and hoping the upcoming fixtures yields a good few points.

Still time for 2 more this season 😂.

At least he had the balls to realise he had made a mistake and rectify it rather than let it just carry on.

I think the character he is and how much he wants to do well he is always going to be very involved, which will mean some bad decisions as well as good.

Be interesting if Dyche is there next season or just bought in to steady the ship and a new manager will be bought in.
