But, the performance of Brentford sent the biggest concern to me. It was the same rubbish. He does the exact same thing game to game. He plays Bruno out of position, and Bruno is also untouchable. Others like Mainoo are getting little game time. And, unlike ETH, I really haven't seen anything positive yet, at his time at Utd.

So, to give him more time, for me, is simply me living on hope that Utd will start playing much better football by continuing approaching each game in the same way. It isn't me demanding he is sacked, as I'll still support him and the team as much as usual v Sunderland. But my optimism is hugely diminished

I was similarly supportive of Amorim last season, but equally I made no secret of my view that the time to judge him would be after a full summer with his players, combined with a transfer window. I’ve said all along the time to judge him would be a year or so after he first took up his post.

That time is almost here and, if anything, we’ve regressed. There has been no discernible improvement. None.

I mean, I'd actually say we are a lot worse. Judging my results anyway.

He is in desperate need of 2 or 3 good results in a row, hopefully leading to a rise in confidence and a few more stronger results, just to keep him ticking along until they can make more changes to the squad.

But if confidence diminishes, and performances don't improve, he is on thin ground. And Sunderland are looking good. Losing to Sunderland at Old Trafford would be extremely alarming.

For me, a central defensive pair of De Ligt and Yoro/Martinez, with two half decent full backs either side, Ugarte sitting in front of them, with his accepted lack of mobility perhaps being less of an issue, with Bruno and Mainoo playing as 8’s, and the front three configured however you want to do that. It simply has to be better than a midfield pair who get overrun every game. The issue is becoming clearer every week - we have Bruno and Ugarte/Casemiro, who are nowhere near mobile enough, with wingbacks playing so high up the pitch that we are just ridiculously easy to play through.

If we can see that, it’s beyond belief that Amorim keeps allowing it to happen. The punditry after every game is like Groundhog Day.

Been saying this all season. I honestly think Utd can get Top 4 this season because playing a 4231 suits pretty much every player in the first eleven and even squad. Apart from Liverpool, Arsenal and City there's no one really good enough to make 4th their own. It will probably be between Chelsea, Newcastle and one other.

The team is much better than the performances and results this season.

Personally think Utd will beat Sunderland and Amorim will last another month or so. The reason being Barrada has a vested interest in it and will pull the trigger as a last resort as he could well be in the firing line too.
 
Decent first half for Everton. Comfortable on the ball but not creating too many chances. I feel for Beto, he hasn't been given much to work with.

Good goal, belter of a header.

Summerville looks excellent for West Ham, some serious pace and control.

If I was Nuno I would just tell the team to feed Summerville every chance they get.
The goal was good but the marking was poor, Mavropanos was 2 yards behind Keane, that is a schoolboy error.

Fullkrug does my head in, he is absolutely toilet, I would give Wilson or Marshal the 2nd half.

Definitely. O'Brien is a centre half playing at RB. Summerville can take him every time. O'Brien will have to be positionally clever this half.
 
Both teams could have won that, both might feel disappointed. Everton need to get a cutting edge. Lots of possession in the last third, lots on the edge of the penalty area. Not enough testing the keeper. Improvement needed.

Yeah that’s fair, I was pleased with the way West Ham played, looked more organised than the last few games. Shame it’s Arsenal Saturday 😁

Or 4-2-3-1 in the same vein as Liverpool and Arsenal would made imo immediate improvements for Man Utd

It suits the players that are there
 
I wonder if the VAR officials who didnt give the red card to Brentford in the Utd game will be sitting at home next weekend?

Or, do they only get taken off when the media create more controversy, and they feel the PGMOL feel they need to appease them?

Off topic slightly however have you noticed the difference between Carragher's (and plenty of others in the media) attitude towards Wirtz (for example) and Anthony/Hojlund (or any number of United players who haven't lived up to their price tag). The amount of excuses he's been making for Wirtz who, so far, looks a hugely underwhelming buy given his price tag and yet Carragher defends him and wants him given time. Time that has not been afforded to any United player.

In fairness Carragher did say he hasn’t been great so far and highlighted reasons why he hasn’t hit the heights so far

But it’s been 6 games so far

Last season, a few games into De Ligts Utd career, he picked a game Utd were especially poor in and did a long segment highlighting how bad he felt De Ligt was in that game. In my opinion, De Ligt was one of our strongest performers, and in general is an absolute beast who'll work his heart out and put his body on the line. I think many Utd fans would also see De Ligt as one of our best players, and I really wouldn't mind him being Captain. At no point has Carragher done a follow up piece highlighting the areas in which De Ligt has done really well. Not that I'd expect him to.

Of course, a few games into Wirz's career, there is absolutely zero chance Carragher would ever prepare a 10 minute analysis showing how poor Wirz has been. And the odd comment saying "Wirz hasn't been great so far" is clearly no comparison on how he will react to players of other clubs. Had Wirz signed for Man Utd for the same fee, I'm pretty confident in saying that half of MNF would be taken up one night telling us all how bad he has been, and what he is lacking to be a success in the PL.

I'm prepared to say that penalty against Liverpool was really really harsh.

Yes, his arm caught him. But, from what I saw, it looked like a natural movement, completely accidental.

I might be wrong, not many complaints from players it seemed, but I thought the attacker made it look more dramatic than it was
