He’ll get his move once the contract he signed expires.
Players need to get a release clause put into their contract, that would avoid all of this.
Did he ever put in a formal transfer request? Not sure he did. That is what used to happen to trigger a move, yes I know why they don't do it now but if you really want to go.........

That would have been awful for the club though. I can totally understand not selling him at the 11th hour on deadline day when it's impossible to get a replacement. If he had a release clause they would have been completely screwed.

He didn’t put one in , don’t think he felt he needed to with the relationship he had with the club

A bid was accepted , terms agreed , medical done

It seems the owner was too busy from 3-6 at some fitness class

Or the club want to get rid.

Contracts not worth the paper they are written on now.
This sets a very bad example imo.

Leaving it until the last day was just very very bad management, not the first time for Palace this season with their paperwork.!

If he had a release clause it would have happened at the end of last season.

Not the last day that’s just really poor.

Maybe, but in general release clauses still leave clubs open to having their players pillaged at the last minute. Unless it's a Forest release clause when you can just change the rules and make it up as you go along of course.

We all know we wanted him.

But make the clause good for the club not the player let’s be Frank Palace would do exactly the same as any other club for a player they want.

It’s hard to feel sorry for anyone in football

They didn’t leave it to the last day , a bid was put in before the last day

They first approached Palace after the Community shield and owner was open about him being sold
If you really wanted him then you could have bid £50m when the transfer window opened. That would have pushed CP into a corner. You didn't, you tried to use the 1yr element and get him cheaply. That is why it went to the last day. You were happy to blow the budget on other players, why play games on this signing. By leaving it so late it created the mess, the lack of player for CP to buy.

They aren’t going to bid £50mil for a player that’s got one year left on his deal

No club will - that’s just silly

There was no blowing of budget or playing silly games

The club have looked at him for a while but we’re going to wait until next summer and grab him on a free and look to him to be the replacement for VVD

But Konate only has one year left and hasn’t signed a new contact yet so the club approach Palace , the owner was willing to sell , we put in a bid that was deemed fair after a positive initial response from Palace but then it was just sat there for 2 weeks by Palace so we went back again and they accepted it

We didn’t create this mess at all

Palace have been well aware that Guehi wasn’t signing a new contract , they were willing to sell him , player was willing to go , a bid was put in

Their owner has made a huge balls up of it

Yes you did. Bid £50m, job done, deal gets wrapped up in no time. You spent £446m in this window, you are quibbling about an extra £14m, or whatever, that would have nailed a key position for you.

Both parties made a mess of this but ultimately Palace still have the player, you miss out. That's on Liverpool.

We aren’t going to bid £50mil for a player regardless of how much we spent elsewhere , going over the top on players isn’t the answer

Even then Palace weren’t selling without a replacement - they accepted the offer , they had weeks to get a replacement, they had a guy doing a medical and scuppered the deal ( manager said he wouldn’t play )

The price wasn’t the issue

The player is the one that misses out - we have cover

Didn't Bayern pay £100 million for Kane, with 1 year on his contract?

And didn't Real Madrid pay £10 million just to get TAA a month earlier, despite having him guaranteed to join before the next season?

The risk Liverpool take, and that is up to them, is that:

  1. You can manage without Guehi this season.
  2. You risk not getting him next season, of other big clubs are keen to get him on a free.

I remember in the last transfer window, Man Utd were being lambasted by a certain Liverpool fan because they didn't meet Everton's asking price of £70 million for Branthwaite.

Now we are discussing why Guehi is not worth £50 million to Liverpool.

No idea what the state of Branthwaite's contract was at the time, I believe he later signed an extension? But just in terms of the players themselves, does it seem about right that Guehi is only worth half as much as Branthwaite? I'd have thought £40-50 million for Guehi, even with a year left on his contract, would be a steal.

That particular fact has been disputed. But he is that inept when it comes to important issues for his club that it wouldn't surprise me if it was true.
I apologies whole heartedly

Your assessment of Parish appears to be completely valid

What owner goes to a fitness session due a key moment for his club during the final day of transfer window 😂
