The location is stunning and I think it will look even better at night. Reminds me of the new ground Portsmouth tried to build 10-15 years ago.

I remember when the Riverside Cellnet opened for its first match. It clearly wasn’t finished. There was loads of cosmetic work and general tidying up around the site. It looked unbalanced as two of the corners just looked odd. In effect it had been future proofed. The outstanding work was completed in the following weeks and the corners were filled a few years later.

On a personal note, every home seat was a season ticket - no problem there as I had one for years - but you weren’t next to people you been next to for years…

Parking isn’t an issue, especially with so many businesses around there recognising they can make money at weekends & evening. And there’s far more room for street food sellers.

No doubt Everton and the city council will have problems, some unexpected, but I think it’s a great move by Everton. And there’s far more extra capacity will bring on over £250,000 per home game.

You have clearly seen a lot more of Mainoo than I have but based upon what I have seen I think it would be a massive mistake for him to replace Fernandes at this time.

He strikes me as very limited and without the ability of Fernandes. The media reaction to him when he first came through seemed to be compensation for Man U missing out on Jude Bellingham.

As a Birmingham fan, have you got any inside info on what happened with that move? I heard Bellingham was shown around Man Utd and was all set to sign, then Ole said he wouldn't feature in the first team until the following season. He then changed his mind and went to Dortmund a few days later.

I was basing it on new grounds. Spurs for me is the best and has everything including that wow factor. Don't get me wrong it's still looks a great stadium, just for the hype I was underwhelmed. I get the idea about the steep home end as I've been to Dortmund and stood on what it was based on.

Do you not think it's too small too? West Ham and Spurs have 60,000 grounds and for me Everton are just as big. Did you try and go for bigger but planning turned it down?
Interesting about Spurs as I've heard fans say it can lack atmosphere. It's partly built for US football games and the shape doesn't necessarily help it. I'm happier with a pure football ground.

Apparently there is potential to expand to 60k if there is demand. They didn't want to go too big and then not sell out or have to be giving tickets away cheaply. They won't have gone with the 52k figure without a great deal of thought and research, we have to trust them on that front. It seems a sensible number to me 🤷

One crucial thing that came up yesterday is that they have 4,000 more corporate seats on match day now. There was barely anything at Goodison, no boxes, so that will make a massive difference to income.

That's one ground I'm missing. I recall that was one of the first new stadiums along with Millwall in the mid 90's. It was then Huddesfield, Bolton and Reading. Amazing how many teams have new grounds these days.

Stoke also did something like Boro and had empty corners that they filled in a while afterwards.

Fair points there! Football grounds are all about the type of game with regards atmosphere, it was good at Spurs when I went. I think West Ham would swap the extra capacity for a pure football ground any day too.

Corporate is where the lolly is and that's a big upgrade. Apparently Mansfield are taking 5,000 for the cup game this week?

I remember the club was thinking of moving to the end of the M57/58 at the main junction.
There’s acres of space there .
But they asked the fans and they said “ no” as it was out of the city limit.

It’s about 25/30 minutes walk to Lime st station but it puts the away fans walking right through the city centre.
We all seen this so don’t know why the planning dept couldn’t .
But it’s there now and it’s fantastic ,I hope Everton get back to the top table like my dad remembered.

He took me the match every week Everton one Sat Liverpool the next ,he just loved the game!
That's quick going from Lime Street, 30 mins. Then again I'm a slow walker. Wouldn't like to do it in January with the wind coming off the Mersey

It’s ok going ,but it’s uphill going back.😉

On a serious note there are some very dangerous roads on the route including the two Tunnel entrances if you don’t know where your going.

The train to Sandhills is best option but remains to be proven .

Do you not think it's pretty much the same as last season except you've replaced dross with two very good players in Cunha and Mbeumo? Even then while looking dangerous in parts you've managed 1 goal in 2 games and that was an own goal.

For me the problem is still the manager and his set up.

It’s like I’ve said, he’s spent £200m on what has the potential to be an excellent front three, but what is behind is an issue. A huge one.

I’m quite sure Amorim knows he needs to bolster his midfield, and with a decent box to box player in there I think there would be a marked improvement. Without that, we are vulnerable defensively and will continue to struggle to create.

I still think there’s a lot of muddled thinking going on, and square pegs in round holes. But the club have invested in a manager knowing that he has a very set way of doing things. We simply cannot continue sacking managers.

We’re two games in, with a week still to go before the window shuts. I’m not about to draw any conclusions this early.

Sandhills submitted a planning application for a major upgrade in Aug ‘24. Haven’t got clue what it included nor if it been completed but I’d guess with less than a year it might not be.

At least the signings look a level up. I knew Cunha would be something special.

The midfield is a mess though and unless Bruno goes to Saudi I can't see it being fixed. I also don't see the defence being good enough.

Switch to 4231 and the side looks a lot more balanced.

Onana (New keeper to come)

Dalot
Yoro
De Ligt
Shaw

Mainoo
Ugarte (Switch to Mount in easier games)

Mbeumo
Bruno
Cunha

Sesko

I'm not saying that's a complete side but it looks balanced and would easily challenge for the top four. It gets the best out of the better players too.

I like Bruno, always have. But when we have to start playing ANYONE out of position to accommodate new players and a system, then something has to give.

In signing two 10’s we now have a problem. My money is on Fernandes moving on next summer, if not before.

Bruno has been the one signing that's delivered season in, season out.

The current system is playing Shaw, Amad, Bruno, Mount etc out of position.

Cunha can easily play a little bit wider left and he prefers it as his heat map shows. Mbeumo is the one that classes with Bruno more but they can easily tweak it to fit all three into that attacking midfield line.
