Think the second one will be linked to the first one

There needs to be either financial rules in place or none at all

The finances in the game have caused huge issues to multiple clubs and a number have disappeared

The winners shouldn’t be the club with the owner with the most disposable income

But there needs to be limits in place to try and find a bit more leeway

Have said before

You take the amount of revenue that the highest club earns and allow all clubs to spend to that limit - if clubs don’t have that level of revenue then any shortfall is underwritten by the owner and not placed as debt on the club

I am no expert on football finances and don't have the knowledge to suggest what they are, but I believe there are sets of rules that could be brought in which are much fairer to all.

I also believe that such a set of rules will not see the light of day in the near future and things will carry on as they are.

What set are they ? Be interesting to know 👍

Ah right

The good or bad thing is whatever rules are put in place - all the clubs have a say on it

Yes, though I am not convinced they have yet been offered much in the way of alternatives to vote on.

I believe there is (or has been) a trial of Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) and Top to Bottom Anchoring (TBA) as an alternative to PSR.

From my (admittedly) little understanding of these systems, SCR makes it even harder for "smaller" clubs to compete against the big boys while TBA is anti-competitive and would trigger legal challenges from some quarters and possibly UEFA/FIFA.

If those are the only alternatives on offer, for some clubs it's like being presented with a vote on whether you want to be shot, stabbed or pushed off a cliff, while not being offered an option to live.

It is a shame that it is becoming more and more about finances and how much money someone has

It’s a situation that the premier league have created

The minute state ownership got involved it was always going to get worse

I think the moment billionaire's got involved, it got worse. The problems started before state owners, they are just convenient to blame.

It shows the impact of the club World Cup when there has been no posts since City got beat

Nothing about Chelsea reaching the final

The FIFA President gave an embarrassing speech about using the tournament to find peace and it being the biggest club competition in the sport

The Chelsea manager was talking to the press saying how the tournament had the best clubs in the world there :ROFLMAO: . Chelsea were not even in the top 3 in England last season. The best team in England, the best team in Spain, neither are there. I hope he had a degree of embarrassment when he said it.

It's a worthless competition, apart from the money of course. No one cares about it.

It's nothing more than a glorified pre-season tournament albeit one that is extremely lucrative.

It would probably be better if it was pre-season for them. This is still post last season. If Chelsea were not buying a whole new team, they would be in trouble by Christmas 😂. Joking apart, it has to catch up on these players at some point.

I haven't watched 1 second of this tournament. No interest for me.

I was actually having a conversation with a Chelsea fan about this as he was over the moon with the progress in the tournament and the amount of money that would be brought in even if they didn't win the final. I pointed out that whilst that was all well and good it would mean a max of 4 weeks between the final and their first PL game and given that pre-season for most teams started this week Chelsea are likely to start the season under-cooked as their players will need a break before they then start their season proper. Having Champions League etc means I think this is going to be a struggle even with the number of players they have, surely some will hit the wall!

I've watched a couple of the CWC games....mainly the bigger European sides in the knockout stages...

Flamengo 2-4 Bayern
Inter 0-2 Fluminense
PSG 2-0 Bayern

Didnt watch any of the group games.

Will be tuning in for Madrid v PSG tonight.

During the early stages I was much more interested in the European U-19 and U-21 tournaments....but even now I really dont give two hoots as to which team wins.

I would have watched it if it was on Sky or Free to air, But it was not, accessibility is an issue, 1 of my 2 boys has watched a lot of it on his phone but the other hasn't bothered either. TBH Channel 5 showed some early games and I watched those
