I never understand why players do the knee slide celebration.
If I was a manager I’d ban that & taking the shirt off.
One can easily cause injury & the other is a stupid way to get a yellow card.
Knee slides are a classic though. At least the pitches are like carpets these days, imagine doing that in the 70s? Ripped to shreds.

I remember Celestine Babayaro used to do a whole load of gymnastic cartwheels and flips to celebrate goals, then one year he supposedly fractured his leg in pre-season doing that. Club must have been furious!

Wonder what persuaded Ronaldo to sign his 2 year £500mil contract - must be the love of the game

Disgusting level of money
It is a ridiculous level of money. That being said, the Saudis have decided that there is nobody better than Ronaldo, both in terms of playing football and brand value, and that is the money they are prepared to give him. So, fair play to Ronaldo for having the ability, career and profile to be able to command that sort of money being thrown at him.

Love of the game? I'm not sure anybody can question Ronaldo's love of the game. He has pretty much dedicated his life to football, and managed to pretty much ensure he has not let anything get in the way of him becoming the best footballer he can be. You would be hard pressed to find a better professional than Ronaldo, at least in terms of playing football.

I take it you have never had carpet burns on your knees then. 😉

In the 70s, you'd have gone about 3 inches before sinking into the mud ...

It is odd how the club World Cup finals have a lot of negative attitude towards it in the UK, but this link shows that Brazil is going mad for it. The four teams that have qualified for the last 16 have geared there season up for these finals 😳
A good read indeed about the changing times in Brazilian football.

I'm just trying to think whether I could be less interested in the Club World Cup.

Nope, it turns out that I couldn't.

Is there even any TV coverage? I’ve had a quick glance and I haven’t been able to find any.

I won’t lie. With the exception of the dross produced by England recently, I haven’t watched any football on the box since the Europa League final. I have absolutely no interest in the Club World Cup, and probably wouldn’t have even if United were involved.

I won’t be bothering with the women’s Euros, and can’t see me watching any football until the Championship and Premier Leagues kick off again.

It’s the summer. So I’ll watch a bit of cricket, The Open, and play a lot of golf.

Don’t fancy watching our U21s in the Euro final tonight?

Every match of The Club World Cup is broadcast free to air on DAZN...some matches have been televised on Channel 5 as well.

(I haven't watched a single game...been more interested in the U-19 and U-21 European Championships)
