Apparently Gyokeres wants a move to United, not Arsenal, after all.

He sounds about as decisive as my lovely wife when she goes clothes shopping.

Will be interesting to see what the United hierarchy do. They’ve been pretty clear that they are only after players who genuinely want to sign for the club. Gyokeres appeares to want Arsenal and United would be his fall back option. Does that fit with the above?

If arsenal don’t sign him who else do they go for?
Imagine if they don’t sign a striker 🤯

One thing I did see yesterday in the highlights, the U 21’s seem more open to attacking when there is a break rather than get 3/4s of the way up the pitch and knock it back to the defenders, giving the defending team time to reproup.
They didn’t create much though the two of them.
The keepers were hardly challenged all game.

Anderson (NF) was excellent mom for me.
Both teams were very good and it was a great watch.
But I think both teams defences were in control for most of the game.
Bizzare goal to concede but what a finish.

Elliot looked very good and two great goals.

U-19 Final has reached half time with no score.

Netherlands started brightly but, like the French last night, dont seem to be able to get a clean strike on the ball apart from a strike from outside the area close to half time. Spain have had the better chances and have forced the Dutch keeper into a couple of saves. Once more though the play is full of direct passing, with an intention from both sides to get the ball forward at every reasonable opportunity

Cagey and absorbing rather than outright entertaining. Based on what I've seen so far, this has got 1-0 written all over it.

Newcastle's new signing Antonio Cordera looks to my eyes to be a bit lightweight for the demands of the PL at this stage of his career (only 18 years old)...I suspect he might be sent out on load next season. Looks very good at set pieces...has delivered some excellent corners but seems less inclined to go past his man (plays left wing) cutting back inside (a la Grealish) more often than attempting to get to the byline.

The UEFA TV cameraman doesn't seem to have got the message about being politically correct...given the number of close-ups of attractive young ladies in the crowd (I've noticed this in other games at these and the U-21's).

Oh yeah...Spain have been quite aggressive and have been penalised several times for simply barging Dutch players over a long way off the ball...2 players booked for such offences.

Nothing wrong with that, I bet there are lots of close-ups of the attractive young men on the pitch. ;)

...and so it proved.

On 62 minutes just as i was thinking that Cordero was having a decent game, tracking back and helping cover his defenders, he lets the Dutch right winger run off him, gets back, has a half hearted tug on his shirt inside the box and then thinks better of it, the winger reaches the byline and hits a low cross parallel to the goal line about 3ft away from the goal line....the Spanish keeper has come too far of his line and, as the ball passes behind him, he sticks out his left leg and toe pokes the ball into his own net.

In the 30 mins that followed the Dutch defended well and Spain huffed and puffed and created very little, apart from a central header that was firm but straight at the Dutch keeper, who palmed it up in the air and then had 5 attempts before he finally claimed the ball from 3 Spanish players who surrounded him.

A late penalty claim for Spain was waved away....no VAR to intervene...at first glance it looked a clean tackle by the defender, on the super slow mo it looked like the Spanish forward might have just got his toe to the ball momentarily before the two players came together....but no way a clear and obvious mistake and I'm not sure VAR would have intervened if it had been in use. This obviously upset the Spanish who went into familiar histrionics at the final whistle, with players and backroom staff surrounding the referee.

To be fair...the Dutch probably deserved it....had more control and were defensively solid, especially after scoring. Both teams need a bit of shooting practice if you ask me.

8 yellow cards in the match... 1 poor challenge and 1 for protests about the penalty not being given. The other 6 were for off the ball barges, trips and pull backs. I've noticed the referees really clamping down on the latter in both this and the U-21 tournament....we saw a bit of this in the PL last season, but in these age group comps the refs have been really strict on this, so perhaps we might see even more yellows for such offences in the coming season.

Nope. Might all be rubbish in the media, but he is sounding like a difficult player.

So City batter Juve and am sat in A and E with me mum since 17.30 with a referral from GP. Dr in A and E says “ why are you seeing me when your GO has referred your mum for an X-RAY. 🤬
“Because the receptionist told us to sit down and I told her we had a referral”.
Plus Missis T has had me Chilli from outta the fridge. 😖

I never understand why players do the knee slide celebration.
If I was a manager I’d ban that & taking the shirt off.
One can easily cause injury & the other is a stupid way to get a yellow card.
Yes spent many a Monday at Southport fc repairing the slides.
The laces rip the turf out and do damage the pitch.

If the pitch is dry you can really hurt yourself.

Possibly difficult, but nevertheless one who Amorim has already managed. I’m sure if the manager is aware of any real issues attitude wise, this transfer would never even have been talked about.

Still mega money for someone that's only ever done it in the Championship or in Portugal.

Very strange career as until he was 23 he looked a total failure and then suddenly sparks into life. Two good seasons at Coventry and then goes to the next level at Sporting.

Is that because he's suddenly improved or because he's in a rubbish league? Probably a bit of both but there's such a lack of top strikers teams will take the risk. It will be great to see him the Prem though.

I’m certainly not saying he wouldn’t be a significant risk. United have been here so many times down the years when it comes to spending big on players who have done it in other leagues only to crash and burn.
