We aren't selling him for £70m, not even close. Keep going north with the numbers 😄

I love it when fans of buying clubs think they can devalue other club's players and get upset when fans of the selling club point it out.

(Not talking about you specifically by the way @Arthur Wedge. It's just the way of the world. Plenty of Geordie jokers out there doing it with Elanga at the moment. The number of fans I've seen saying words to the effect of "£30 million gets it done" is most amusing.)

Just an opening salvo - prob end up around £85mil plus some add ons and Smarties 😁
We definitely need a good number of Smarties. Smarties will seal the deal (y) . Don't try giving us the snack pack size though, we won't fall for that trick again

We know he will go at some point, I suspect next summer rather than this one, but we will squeeze the pips for whoever is buying him.

He is the future CB for England , should be there now - the contact until 27 ( think with an option ) will put the club in a very good negotiating position

I don’t expect us to be involved

I believe his contract runs until 2027, and I assume there is no buy-out clause?

If he has not renewed by next summer, do you think Everton will look to sell him to the highest bidder? Or will you try to hold onto him, and hope he renews his contract a few months before his existing contract expires?

They are looking to renew his contract this summer. They won't let him get into his final year, he is worth too much for that. The ones we have let run down this year had minimal value, or were injured and so not sellable last year.

We have a solid reputation for not standing in the way of players who want to move on. I suspect the chat at the moment is, extend the deal, increase the salary, give us another year, we will let you go at market value if an acceptable bid comes in. There wont be a buy out number, we have not done that previously.

They need to get rid of Onana first, as man Utd priorities really need to be in scoring goals. I said before, I'd happily accept 5 blunders from Onana (most goalkeepers make one or two throughout a season), if it means Utd can score 20-30 extra goals.

I hear rumours that Monaco are interested in Onana, but Onana wants to stay at Utd. And that Emi Martinez wants to join Man Utd. But, I attach no weight to any of it, as summer is silly season anyway, with loads of nonsense.

I can understand Martinez wanting to join United and I can understand Villa being open to selling due to PSR although the valuation of £40m seems ludicrous especially given his age and their circumstances. I cannot understand though why United would even look twice at him. Onana had his (well publicised) issues last season however compared to Martinez he had fewer errors leading to shots (4 vs 6). He prevented more goals and had most clean sheets. Moving to Martinez looks to be a sideways movement at best and no where near the upgrade that we need.

Thought Martinez was the declared best GK in Football 😁

The stats in Onana's favour are very close though. The prevented goals metric is 38 v 22 for Martinez which is a massive difference.

Martinez would be decent as a stop gap for a few years but £40m is mad.

Given his age etc I'd take him for £15m as you can't really go wrong at that price point and it gives options but as you say, £40m is wishful thinking. I wouldn't have put it past the previous regime at United to have paid that though. I still maintain that it's not the upgrade in the position that's really needed unless we get him cheap.

Am I right in thinking that earlier on in the tournament posters were saying we were rubbish and should be learning from other teams? I'm not saying we can't learn, but we must be doing something right
