Ten Hag dipped his toe in the water but didn’t really get to grips with players whose attitudes stank the place out providing they could put a performance in once in a while.

Rashford was a classic case in point. Occasionally consigned to the naughty step for a day or so before being brought back, but exhibiting absolutely no change in his attitude. Amorim hasn’t stood for it. And it seems he isn’t standing for it with Garnacho.
ETH started it. But, as it isn't amateur football, he couldn't just get rid of bad apples at will. Very tricky process when you have several bad apples, all on big contracts with a long time remaining.

He was never going to win with Rashford. Rashford was the huge positive in his first season, so it is no surprise he got a nice new contract (albeit too high a salary). The next season, Rashford stunk the place out. But, there were really no other top attacking players who could come in and score the goals, and challenge Rashford. It is almost damned if you do, damned if you don't. Drop him, you have no idea where else the goals could come from and are blamed for keeping him out. Play him, and you are blamed for not being tougher on him (if he continues not to score). So, given his issues with the squad, I can see why he kept playing him. Hoping he'd play himself into some sort of form and confidence.

When Amorim came in, it was easy for him to start with a clean slate (like ETH did when he first came in, and dealt with players like Ronaldo). It would be difficult for Amorim to start dealing with players next season, if they were decent for him last season (although, to be fair, there are not many to choose from), and start stinking the place out next season. He will be helped though, if the club finally get their act together in the transfer window, and bring in some quality players who can put in good performances, and cover for the players who stink the place out. It makes it easier for Amorim to drop big time players, if there are others in the side that can get the job done.

Yes changing owner so you can qualify for Europe seems dodgy.

Your owner on the day you qualify should stand. Imo. Palace fans will have a different view.

Sorry but why ? Surely it’s who owns the club when the competition starts that’s key

He has sold the club on - there is nothing dodgy there as opposed to owners putting clubs in “trusts” etc

Sancho off to Fenerbachce is the rumour, apparently agreed a salary of £10m euros so would just need to agree a fee with United. Please happen, please happen, please happen.......

Not surprised as their tax system seems to be 20% for footballers which is a lot less than he will pay now so will appeal

What is key is what the competition rules state at the point of entry, whether at time of qualification or when it starts. You can't flip them after the event. I hope Palace get to play but if the rules relate to the time of qualification, then they can't. They knew the score beforehand, they should have acted earlier (if those are the rules)

think the issue for me is a lot of clubs won’t be able to confirm qualifying until maybe the last day of the season

I don’t think the entry to the comp is until the season starts but I think ownership models need confirmation back in March

But there is of course the appeal process which other clubs have gone through and be allowed to play

Also seen a suggestion from Italy this morning that Juve are exploring a swap deal which would bring Vlahovic and Douglas Luiz to United.

Being offered a sum and being paid a sum are not always going hand in hand in Turkey.

On the day they qualified they couldn’t play in it.

Simple as that ,it should have gone to the next club in line.
That’s my opinion!

The good news is clubs are able to appeal and work around things to ensure that a club gets the competition entry that they have earned and there is precedent already that clubs can put things in place to satisfy the rules

Hopefully a long time, when it comes to discipline anyway.

I don't agree with the "at long last" comment though. At the end of Solskjaer's reign, everyone was saying the squad needs discipline. ETH did that, for example with Ronaldo, Sancho and having to deal with specific incidents with Rashford. However, because we didn't start flying up the league in his second season (and fell down it, albeit with horrendous injury record that wasn't an acceptable excuse to many, though it was a fair excuse for Spurs finishing 17th), then many blamed the manager. Suddenly, it was his fault that he wasn't getting the best out of players like Sancho. It was like he was expected to just magically turn him into a really good player for Utd, and Sancho's attitude was irrelevant.

Amorim obviously saw bad things with Rashford and Garnacho as soon as he arrived, as he dropped them from the squad. Garnacho looked to respond well initially, and got back in. Rashford cried like a big baby, and gave up. But, since Garnacho has had difficult moments since (still in his development stage, it is expected), it is clear he has continued to act like an immature child.

The fans were very supportive of Rashford at the start of his career. They were very supportive of Garnacho, even last season. But, the fans are clearly not on Rashford's side now. And, the Aston Villa shirt has probably tipped the needle against Garnacho now, although it was already heading that way after various social media whinges at the end of last season. So, the fans will tolerate Amorim in terms of disciplining these types of players. I can't see the board thinking any different.

Contrast Rashford and Garnacho with Harry Maguire, night and day.
Two 'Billy big boots' vs one consumate professional.
