I think Moyes is underrated. Don’t like him but respect what he’s achieved. He did a great job first time round at Everton. Going to Utd, inheriting an aging squad and following on from Ferguson was always going to be a poisoned chalice.

I’ve always thought he had a Marmite relationship with West Ham fans. Some loved him others detested him. Overall I think he did a good job there, and I question if West Ham have gone backwards since he left.

Ange I don’t rate, and I don’t think Amorion has had time to prove himself either way.

We didn't invent well when he left for sure

Moyes wasn't the best with transfer fees so it was taken away from him and we appointed a director of football (since sacked) however Sullivan can't leave it alone .. he still had to be involved. So we had j-lo signing players he wanted .. like killman for 40 million and Rodriguez and soler.. then tim signing his players like todibo , fulkerg and then Sullivan playing football manager with AWB and Summerville

We need one system not having 3 people trying to bring in

That's why I respect potter a lot..he's come in.. brought in who he worked with on transfers before so that's a clear plan. He also got us letting in much less goals and grinding out results. Give him a full window to get his players and systems in then I expect us to progress again

Much like golf sometimes you need to go backwards to go forwards

£126mil !! Mental

I know he is a very good player and is only 22 - but that’s a lot of money

For that price we could be getting 2 top quality players

Looks like we have saved the pennies over the last 18 months to get - Frimpong , Wirtz and Kerkez

Next couple of signings will come from the money we get from selling - Kostas , Nunez , Elliot and maybe a CB

Or you could be getting Antony and Hojlund!

If Wirtz delivers over 5-6 years it's a steal. You're better off buying the right player once, rather than messing around on £40-50m players who have less pedigree.

Very good investment, I mean he is 22 so this could be a signing for a decade of a really talented footballer

Yeah he is a very talented player and with Edwards back I’m confident that it’s been researched well - we dont get many transfers wrong with him there but it’s still a lot of money

Not sure you can ever say a player costing €150m is a steal.

It's relative. If he gets 30+ goals/assists a season over 6 years it would be worth it. And if his contract is managed well he'll still have a similar value or potentially grow as an asset.

It could go badly too but that's why we love football, you never know for sure.

You could pretty much say that about any big money signing.

IF, the biggest short word.

I'm sure that is the big word that the guys on the Man Utd board used a lot when justifying their purchases. If Hojlund scores 25+ goals a season, he'll be a steal. If Anthony terrorizes full backs season after season, he'll be a steal.

I suppose the bigger question will be, is Wirtz the only player in the world that will be able to do what he is expected to do, or could there be another player who could do the same, or be better, at a lower price? Or is Wirtz simply more a guarantee that he will get the business done on the pitch, and thus Liverpool are paying for that guarantee?

I don't know enough about him to be honest, I'd never heard of the guy. But, then again, I don't watch football from other leagues.

I’m interested in where the manager sees him player - have seen a few suggesting he will be as a false 9 type player but will be given a number 10 role behind a striker with two wide players - seems very attacking especially with the proposed full backs

I have a feeling the Wurtz and Cherki deals could go the same way as Nunez and Haaland comparisons.

Having seen Wirtz playing in some of European games, he definately is a talented and dangerous player.
I love how one minute Liverpool are pilloried for not buying any players, and the next being mocked for paying for a player, regardless of how much this player is.
Liverpool aren't like Chelsea or City, vacuuming up countless players to then have to send out on loan before being sold off.
He will make Liverpool even more dangerous next season thats for sure. :)

In what way ?

Have you seen either of them play ?

City were very much interested in Wirtz but for a few reasons went elsewhere

Cherki is prob a couple years behind in development compared to Wirtz who has been on both the German stage and international stage for a few more years

Cherki has had last season as his first decent season hence the call up to France

There shouldn’t be the need to compare the two

We played them in Europa last season. Lost 3-1 over 2 legs. He was brilliant in both games a real danger man..believe he was the best player in first game and 3rd highest rated in the second game

A lot of the play went through Him

Looks premier league standard

I don't think it is just Liverpool. Every club that makes big money signings will get attention, and there will always be critics. Even if the player they are buying is proven in the PL, people will still criticise the club for the money spent.

And I doubt any club that signs a player for £100 million plus are doing so that they can send them out on loan :ROFLMAO:

Chelsea are the biggest offenders. Hoovering up majority of young talent to loan out

I read they felt he was too much with PSR being a major issue.

I suggest you take a look at how much Liverpool have spent in the past 10 years,it A LOT 😂

No surprise of the performances... Walker got 90 mins?? Why exactly? When you have both James and Trent available

Kane played most of the match. We never try anything different

Not been impressed with tochells management but I wonder if the first manager post Southgate would always just be a fall guy so the next manager will tap into the fans more

Gibbs white should be starting full stop not just a few mins because it's his ground
I think the managers are trying to make sure Kane breaks the scoring record.!

Toney must be fuming flying all that way for three minutes.
