I think the managers are trying to make sure Kane breaks the scoring record.!

Toney must be fuming flying all that way for three minutes.

I guess that's why he took the Saudi cash. Whats the point playing top level football to be ignored by your country constantly

Vardy all over again

I don't think it is just Liverpool. Every club that makes big money signings will get attention, and there will always be critics. Even if the player they are buying is proven in the PL, people will still criticise the club for the money spent.

And I doubt any club that signs a player for £100 million plus are doing so that they can send them out on loan :ROFLMAO:
Grealish 😉

You could pretty much say that about any big money signing.

IF, the biggest short word.

I'm sure that is the big word that the guys on the Man Utd board used a lot when justifying their purchases. If Hojlund scores 25+ goals a season, he'll be a steal. If Anthony terrorizes full backs season after season, he'll be a steal.

I suppose the bigger question will be, is Wirtz the only player in the world that will be able to do what he is expected to do, or could there be another player who could do the same, or be better, at a lower price? Or is Wirtz simply more a guarantee that he will get the business done on the pitch, and thus Liverpool are paying for that guarantee?

I don't know enough about him to be honest, I'd never heard of the guy. But, then again, I don't watch football from other leagues.

That's true. You'll generally find big money signings tend to be exceptional players though, so have a higher chance of doing well. Barcelona did manage to mess two up in Coutinho and Dembele, although the latter had the ability he's just been plagued by injuries.

If you look at Liverpool's record of big signings, most have done well. It's only Nunez that you could call a flop and even then he's still got a lot of quality, he's just not suited to their style.

I've not seen a great deal of Wirtz either as I tend to mainly watch Bayern/Dortmund in Germany to check on our former player (Olise and Gittens) but from what I've seen he looks very good. He's more of a creator than a goalscorer so probably will get slated if he doesn't get 20+ goals 😅

A minute’s silence for Sky Sports everyone. My heart bleeds for them. 😢😢😢

The article is trying to paint it as being down to the PL being “boring” last season. But may I suggest, it’s more down to a combination o the ridiculous fees they charge, PL increasingly lacking integrity and Sky spending 98% of their time talking about 6 clubs.

And Spitty Carra and Rat-Boy Neville. Get rid of them two, they’ll see the benefits! 🤣

As long as they stick there head in the sand and blame boring football. They will see another 10% drop next season. I will hazard a guys that Amazon fire sticks have seen a 10% increase in sales over the last season.

Is this just another excuse for you to call Gary Neville a rat?

Classy

What do you think of billions that they pay that help your club pay and buy players

Guess your club doesn’t mind the £170mil it gets

I think he’s a big reason people don’t like Sky, so it was relevant to mention him. He’ll always be a rat and I’ll always call him as such. 👍

Love it. Doesn’t mean I love them though. If Sky lost their grip, it would come from somewhere else. 🤷‍♂️

Nope, he is the reason YOU don't like Sky.

Neville and Carragher have been monumental for Sky football. For over a decade, they were ever present during ever more lucrative years for Sky. They are that popular, they have managed to start hugely successful podcasts, because many many fans tune in to hear their opinion. MNF had worked because many fans are willing to tune in to hear their analysis and opinions.

Nobody tunes in to hear what Jamie Redknapp had to say.

I appreciate that calling people things like rat is the stereotypical thing for bitter football fans to do, so I guess it is fair enough on this thread. I just think it is a less than classy way to try and make people understand you don't like his opinion, which all of us are already aware of by now anyway

I don’t think the impact of who commentates or as a pundit will be stopping too many people watching Sky

Both of them have been there for over a decade now

And if Sky did lose their grip then someone else would be charging significant amount of money for you to watch the games

Their is greed all around in the sport

Meh, semantics. Change my post to "a lot of people" then. I get that lots of people do like them. But plenty don't. Personally I remain stunned that Spitty Carra is still in a job. In just about any other walk of life if you're any sort of influential figure in your company, the act of flobbing in a child's face gets you the sack. 🤷‍♂️

But honestly, my post wasn't really about them, it was about the fact that there are a host of reasons Sky gets lower viewers now. I just added the bit about Dumb and Dumber at the end as a bit of an afterthought - hence the laughing emoji. You honed in on it though, which is why we're talking about them now. I didn't particularly want to have a conversation about them.

As per above, there's a myriad of reasons. SC and RBN will be a minor, contributory one.

People will have stopped watching because the title race was done and dusted earlier - for those casual fans of teams outside the prem they prob didn’t bother

Carragher and Neville will have had nothing to do with it

As for Carragher - he made a mistake , was punished and got a second chance , he spat at a window , guess it’s the same as spitting on the floor near and official

“Spitty Marinakis” was punished and then carried out

So where many other players that have been caught spitting - or should they have all lost their job

But it’s a long trodden path and something that he has to live with - should everyone lose their job over one error of judgement
