People will have stopped watching because the title race was done and dusted earlier - for those casual fans of teams outside the prem they prob didn’t bother

Carragher and Neville will have had nothing to do with it

As for Carragher - he made a mistake , was punished and got a second chance , he spat at a window , guess it’s the same as spitting on the floor near and official

“Spitty Marinakis” was punished and then carried out

So where many other players that have been caught spitting - or should they have all lost their job
The window was down,he spat at a young girl 👍🏻

I appreciate it's from The Mail and anything they write should just be ignored but an example of how United are still used for clicks.

Yesterday morning Brazil beat Paraguay 1-0 with Cunha getting the assist to win them the game.

What headline do the Mail come up with.....

Matheus Cunha misses HORROR chance for Brazil just days after signing for Man United - as Red Devils fans blast £62.5m move already

Absolute clickbait and if it were any other club the headline wouldn't exist.

I think a clubs fan will mostly watch any game when it’s on.
I would suggest the main reason Sky subrsciotions have dropped is purely down to the cost of having it, and it’s lack of value for money.
It’s the reason I don’t have it.

That’s the mail for you

Guess they ignored the fact Cunha set up the goal

What is going on with Gyokeres - looks like Sporting are wanting to have a big fee for him now

For me personally, I have pretty much always aimed to watch every televised Premier League game that I can. However, this is the first season I have ever made the decision to not watch a lot of the televised games, or switched them over early as I can't be bothered. Why?

Well, as a Man Utd fan, my love of football has clearly taken a hit due to how they've played. By the end of the season, there was nothing to play for. And I've absolutely no interest in watching other sides battle higher up the table when my own side has been so shocking. I suppose given the fact Man Utd have a very large support, there may well be very many other fans in my shoes, have been turned off watching football this season? Maybe Spurs fans as well, who probably have a decent support. Whereas if Brentford and Palace were having poor seasons, it wouldn't impact the overall numbers as much.

Also, there has been no title race. There has been no relegation battle. So, for fans in general, there has really been very little of interest, apart from the battle for some European spots. And, even with that, no-one ever seems to really know what sport gets what European competition, because nation coefficients and results in other competitions can have an impact on who gets into what.

Ohh, and I don't suppose VAR is helping matters. That just seems to make football worse and worse as each season goes on. I think football fans love the passion, or the pain, of the moment and reacting to that. Whereas they hate to be in the dark for a few minutes as to what the outcome will be, and despair when the final decision seems to be ridiculous

Agreed. Lower the cost and more people will subscribe , I don't get how sky fail to understand this. Or raise the cost and put all a choose teams games on. IE if it went to say £100 a month and was all Liverpool games you may be more tempted to get it than £70 for 2 games a month

It's also the readily available IPTV (so I've ready 😗) that enables people to watch football (or anything else for that matter) from any part of the world. The cost of Sky nowadays just isn't justified IMO when you have these alternatives.

Look what Spotify did to music piracy. Instead of fighting in in terms of trying to get it shut down they came up with a product that people would be willing to pay. If Sky put more effort into looking at how they can create a service that isn't going to cost people £80+ a month and less about trying to ban Firesticks they'd probably get people more willing to sign up again.

Very well put. Music piracy is next to nothing now days with Spotify and such

£11.99 a month I think it is to get rid of ads and basically listen to anything you want ..

Make it cheap people will pay ..

I'm on a 3 month trail because we had a couple of long trips and wanted the music

Not sure I'll renew yet as when it's me I normally just radio

Fickle fans you and Orikou😂. he stopped watching Spurs months ago.

I can’t blame you for losing interest playing dreadful can’t score and var doesn’t help. Much like Spurs.

I’ve watched every Spurs game that’s televised well should say endured watching odd good game but mostly rubbish.

Can only improve for both teams next season.

Well the likes of IPTV etc are illegal so can’t really be used to judge

The pictures are still being bought as big cost by overseas media

They can’t be used as an alternative when it’s illegal as such

Sky pay a lot of money for the media rights and have paid a lot more for next year

Football is very big for Sky and it’s their biggest viewing , it also allows them to bring in other sports - niche sports to cover them all

When you pay for Sky sports you aren’t just buying football - you are buying all the sports and you get a lot for that monthly payment - as with the world though people will always try and find a way to get something for free or cheap

The issue is that it's not the consumer asking Sky to pay so much however they do and then pass on those costs to the customer, prices are just going up and up and something has to give.

Some people don't want all of the other sports though, they might just want football. I know that Sky Sports brought out the option to just pick and choose the sports you want but for the football channel it was still something like £30.00 a month just for that package.

I had a 'friend' who used to download music illegally. It was an absolute ball ache as you had to download the artwork and a lot of the time rename each track otherwise it would look a mess when playing on your iPhone etc. That said it was free.

When Spotify arrived that friend subscribed immediately, no more downloading and having to put albums into a useable order and for a sensible monthly fee. Hasn't downloaded anything illegally (music wise) since.

The Premier League dictate the cost of the packages available

Sky can’t negotiate etc they just pay what’s needed

If Sky don’t buy the packages then others will and they will still cost

£6.7billion is what Sky paid

The pick and choose packages all included football

You could pick just premier but still had to pay other costs

People should be pointing the blame at players who want big wages , fans who want to see big signings for the best players and they all come with a cost

But it’s a long trodden path and something that he has to live with - should everyone lose their job over one error of judgement

BIB - I'm not sure how you can claim to speak for every single person who doesn't have Sky Sports Arthur. But I'm not going to flog this particular point to death with you if you don't mind.

Spitty Marinakis, who had a hacking cough because of his cigar habit and spat on the floor (not in the direction of anyone's face), was punished with the full force of what the powers that be were able to wield. They didn't have the power to sack him, but one might argue they wish they did.

I'm not aware of incidences of players who have spat directly at a child's face. If there are any, no doubt you'll get on Google and dig them out for me. Please don't waste your time on my account, as I may well simply support the idea of them being sacked.

I'm not sure I'd agree that flobbing at a child's face is an "error of judgement". Perhaps we'll just agree to disagree about that, if that's possible.

Does this "friend" have a dodgy stick too?! ;) 🤣

So basically let’s find a way to justify your owner spitting in the direction of officials but let’s drag someone else through the coals when it comes to spitting

It’s disgusting and both were punished

To clarify, I'll still watch every single Man Utd game, despite the pain it has often caused.

But, it is my interest in other football matches that took a sharp decline. If Man Utd were in the mix at the top of the table, or even if they were miles in front, I'd still be more interested in the teams fighting below or around us. When we are 15th, it is hard to get any enjoyment in watching a Villa, Newcastle, Chelsea, etc game. I'd still watch some, like a big game such as Liverpool v Man City, or Villa v Arsenal. Or if a more mundane fixture looks entertaining from the start, I'll stay tuned. But if it isn't, my will power to keep watching is low.

I just found myself sticking on the ps5 or putting on Netflix quite a lot this season when football games were on, I never used to do that.

They way to beat piracy is to make legal ways affordable and slightly more convenient

IPTV wouldn't be as popular as it is if sky lowered the costs .

Spitting at the face of a child because you're getting ribbed about a football result > Spitting on the floor in the direction of someone (motives for the act of spitting debateable).

In my humble opinion. Which is different to yours. And that's cool.(y)

Will the premier league lower their costs ?

How cheap should it be to watch all the football ?

What’s the ball park figure when it’s roughly £22 a month for someone who is already with Sky

Or £27 a month for a rolling contract

£34 for yearly now TV sports package
