Well he’s starting for England.

He is a solid squad player imo.
My only gripe is he needs to much time on the ball , then plays sideways or backwards and we lose forward momentum.
On his day he’s a good player.

I'd have included Mourinho and Conte, but Spurs have been there, done that.

Getting back to the real world, I think Frank is a good appointment. Can't give 100% certainty with any manager, that they'll do well. But, he seems well respected in the game and by the English media and fans. He has a lot of Premier League experience now. If he ever wished to "step up" to test himself at a club with a bigger budget and European football, then Spurs seems a great choice for him. And a great choice for Spurs.

Realise you were joking, but I think we established with Mourinho and Conte that there's no point in us appointing a manager of that calibre unless we're going to give them enough money to buy an entirely new team if they need one. And that's just not who we are, mate. 😉 So we are limited now to managers who have done well at a decent level similar to our own. I think Frank has done well and we represent the next step for him. Nobody else in the Oddschecker list looks a better option to me anyway.

Well you managed to get Mourhino and Conte when their stock was higher.

I guess it depands on ambition really. If you want to finish 6-10th then Frank is probably a safe bet. Low salary, plays decent football and comes across very well. If you want to break back into the Top 4 and better then you'd expect to go for someone with a better record.

I reckon Southgate would've been a decent bet ;):sneaky:

First point - as I said above, they weren't the right fit for the club. They don't actually coach players they just buy new ones that can do what they want, and that isn't the Spurs way.

Southgate - just. obviously not. Zero track record in Premier League management. So in short then you don't have any ideas for a better candidate than Frank? :p

Frank could very well be a fantastic manager at one of the top sides. How can anyone know for sure until he is actually given the chance? If Man Utd didn't have a manager, I wouldn't consider it an awful choice if someone like him was given the job. Not only does he seem to be a decent manager, he also seems to have that level of charisma that is likely to naturally gain respect from the people he manages, which is an important quality. He also doesn't seem to be the type of manager that will spit his dummy out when things don't go his way, so I think he'd be good at managing above him and below him.

So, even if Spurs were "limited" to certain managers, even if they had absolutely no limits, I think Frank could still be a very good choice. Of course, only time will tell to confirm this or not.

Southgate managed the Boro in the Premiership, taking the reins when Steve McClaren took on the England job. Think he did 3 seasons in the Prem then was sacked after relegation. 2 mid table seasons but in the 3rd season Boro needed results to go for them on the last day.

It was very much something he did a lot early days in his career , he pressed very well and was decent in possession but at times kept hold of it too much - he has developed a lot over the last season

I think Franks is a good manager , has earned a chance to see how he does in a CL club

Just like Eddie Howe he has built his experience up - his Brentford side are solid but also have some goals in them

I wasn’t too disappointed when his name was mentioned to replace Klopp

If Levy gives him time and players then he can do well there

The foundations are good at spurs with some of the players they have

The issue at Spurs though is Levy

Are you after a gig at the GM Comedy club? ...Nobody expects Spurs to finish top 4...not next season nor the season after. Nor will they be competitive in the CL.

They will do well to finish top 8 in the PL. They will play their 8 CL games, finish somewhere around 10th-12th in the group, squeak through the play off round and get beat in the round of 16.....and that will be considered progress.

In the past 65 games Brentford have 1 more point than spurs aswell
