Whilst I agree what he did was stupid, robbing us of being 1-0 with 25 minutes to play with a draw being enough to get UCL is disgraceful.

Genuinely though guys….I don’t take these forums too seriously. Love the bantz here and I’d be lying if I told you that EVERYTHING I said here was meant to be taken at 100% face value without a tongue in cheek in sight.
Gutted the season is over though. What am I gonna do with myself for three months?!?!
Although, I suppose we’ve got the farce of City’s verdict to sift through, so that’ll take up a big chunk.

If they pulled their finger out, it could have big impacts on Villa, Forest and Brighton, who could elevate their league position. Leicester could even have been playing PL football next season.Heh heh.

Having been high up in the North Stand I didn’t get a close look at the Villa goal which was chalked off. But it did look as though Bayindir had made an utter hash of it, and if you are all saying it was a refereeing howler I’m in no position to argue.
But to say it was that which cost Villa a place in the Champion’s League is, with respect, a cop out. What cost them was a baffling approach to a game they really needed to win, in which they showed virtually no attacking intent.
They were up against a United side who were there for the taking, after an appalling season typified by a shocking performance midweek. And yet the first time Bayindir touched the ball was to take a goal kick after fifteen minutes. He then had precious little to do until his blunder, and then once Villa had gone a goal down and realised they had to have a go.
The stats don’t lie. Villa had only 6 shots to United’s 25. 1 on target to United’s 10. And the small matter of Emi Martinez getting himself red carded leaving his side a player down for half the game. So, with respect, whilst the referee doubtless got a huge call very wrong, to single that one element out and say it has cost Villa a place in the CL is a bit convenient.
As for United, the best I have seen in some time. Bruno was everywhere - a total contrast to Wednesday when he was anonymous. And we created a host of chances, which we wasted. Story of the last eighteen months or more. And I will not lay all the blame for that on Hojlund, who I felt for again today. He took up some great positions but the end product from both flanks was woeful. Neither Dorgu nor Amad looked to get the ball into danger areas, instead constantly cutting back inside and looking for Fernandes on the edge of the area. That has to change if United are going to score the goals which will win games.
All in all a decent performance. Quite glad I went against my reluctance when I woke this morning to make the effort.

Was was the atmosphere like from the fans generally? Thought it would be very frosty, but looked positive overall, which I was pleased by.

Can you really compare when a referee makes a mistake to when a player makes a mistake ?

They both bear consequences, the 'keeper's probably moreso.
Much like it usually is, to be fair. A lot of anti-Glazer sentiment, but it’s very clear the majority are huge supporters of the manager, who was really well received after the game.
I thought it would be really flat after Wednesday. But there seems to be surprising positivity whenever I’m there, despite the gloom of what’s been going on both on and off the pitch. Today was no different.

Well the consequences for the GK are instant and affects that game
There are no guarantees there are any consequences for a referee when he makes a mistake.
The consequences for his potential mistake are laid bare on the club affected by them
Mistakes and errors do happen by referee- they are human but there seems to be no or very little “punishment” as such for the official
It does seem in this case the game may have been a bit too big for him
