Man Utd might be a mess but things like last night are what makes them a special club. It was the same with Liverpool for 20 odd years, no matter how dire the circumstances you just can't write those type of clubs off.

I turned on after The Apprentice and saw 4 goals in about 10 minutes For all the modern innovations in football, if you put a big lump up top and go direct it's amazing how teams crumble.

Whilst I’m almost at the point of coming round to your view of Hojlund, I’m not quite there as I still have enormous sympathy for him given the dreadful service he gets, notably from Garnacho.

Notwithstanding the assist for Ugarte’s goal, Garnacho’s end product last night was absolutely woeful. He gets himself in decent positions, but it’s real head down, lack of awareness stuff. A few times Hojlund got himself into really good positions only to see his efforts going to waste owing to a teammate who seemed utterly oblivious to his presence.

Hojlund cuts a really solitary figure up top, and it’s really difficult to see how he, or indeed a really top, proven striker, can produce much given what’s going on alongside him.

With service and a decent run then I think Hojlund will score goals but with the two people outside him spending most of the time cutting in then he won’t get the service needed - that’s why Zirkzee started to do well because he looked more of a false 9 type

A lack of decent service and a lack of confidence - not an ideal scenario for a striker. Does he need a move? I wonder if he could do a job at a club like Fulham where they create plenty but have lacked an out and out striker since Mitrovic left. Jimenez and Muniz are decent but we need a 15-20 goal a season man and if he gets going and scores regularly I think he could really show what all the fuss was about. Plenty of similar clubs he could do a job for

Like Pinseeker I hadn't considered that but it could well be true. Not sure how much it's pushed in schools now either.

Without sounding sexist there is a lack of male teachers.
The women teachers won’t do it.

In my daughter’s school anyway, others might be different.
Everton coaches come in once a month for both genders but that’s not enough imo.

It's nothing personal on Hojlund, I just don't rate him as being good enough for Man Utd even as a bench option. He's got something but the move was too big for him and too soon. A season on loan would be the best bet. I think Delap would be a great signing for the money, while not world class yet he's looked very impressive with a lot of potential. Reminds me of a young Harry Kane.

I also think it’s because young players are set for life & treated like superstars after a few decent performances.

No, but there are loads more floodlit AstroTurf pitches now! Those round here seem really busy and lots of junior clubs too.

To answer my own question a bit it's because the premier league has so much money now that even "lesser teams" are full of full internationals.. these kids will end up filling the championship, league one etc whilst just using my own club as an example I can remember times were we had a couple of internationals in the team .. now going through the line up

He's made things happen for himself at a poor Ipswich, he just looks lively can create space and gets shots away from anywhere. That was exactly what Kane was like when he came through. I think City have a buy back clause but hopefully he goes somewhere else. For £30m I think he'll be able to pick his club. He would fit in well at Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Utd!

Your comment about a lump up top, makes me wish one of the “big boys” would go back to an “old school” 442.

See how the rest of the top teams cope with big man / little man up top with 2 chalk on your boots wingers (right foot on the right and left foot on the left!) and a back 4 that never ventures past the halfway line.

I genuinely believe it would be heralded as godlike genius by the media. Never done before and brand new!

First game wasn’t it - yeah he threw himself around a bit but he has matured nicely

Not sure how long he has left in his contract but if those are the teams trying to sign him, I think you can double that number.
