Players do need to be stronger… Paqueta was weak today for Liverpools 2nd, playing for a foul rather than taking on the responsibility of dealing with the ball.

However, as so many clubs find at Anfield, you are often playing against 12 men. VVD fouled to score the goal. No other team would get away with it. 🤷‍♂️

(This was in reply to post @Chip&Run but for some reason I cannot reply!)

Another poor defeat for Spurs. Where does that leave Ange? As for United......
Man United have all but written off their season. There is clearly very little fight or determination in league games. Sad, but that is how our season has panned out. And I am sure a good chunk of those players know they will not be at United next season anyway, so their heart is even less in it. Very difficult to win games when mentalities are like that, when your opponents are up for the fight.

Yesterday's result doesn't really bother me. It would bother me if there was something to fight for, if it was earlier in the season or if it was Thursday night against Lyon. But, apart from Europa League, I just want the season to end and see what happens in the summer.

But surely that is down to Amorin to motivate and get the best for each match. You could argue by almost downing tools now they are doing all the other sides a disservice. I think the bottom 3 is sorted so it won't have an impact on relegation but what about the teams playing for Europe? Surely if you think/know you are on the way out yo want to put yourself in the shop window and put a shift in

So I that’s left to sort out for the season

5 points needed for Liverpool to win the league so that’s prob about done

Arsenal and Forest have two of the other CL spots prob sorted

So that’s leaves two more

It’s prob down to

City , Newcastle , Chelsea and Villa

IMO Newcastle will get one

The last one is wide open - a quick glance at the fixtures and the other three have the same sort of fixtures left

I don’t see Chelsea getting it

Think the Pep affect may just get City into 5th

The relegation spots are done

So that’s leaves the FA Cup

Can see a Villa Forest final and Villa winning that

The Europa Lge

Think both English clubs get knocked out and Frankfurt win it

The Europa Conference- Chelsea will walk that

CL - will be a PSG vs Barce final and Barcelona will prob just squeeze past

Into the Championship

Looks like Sheff United have imploded to Leeds and Burnley will get promoted

Then lottery of the played offs

I'm not saying they are intentionally downing tools. Just a natural reaction to having nothing to play for, and a bunch of players who are aware they'll have no future at the club. Add to that a complete lack of confidence and realization from many of them that they just are not that good, given the position in the league they are in.

Maybe I was putting words in your mouth but you see my jist. If you know you are going to be released or sold then surely to get the best club and price you'd be playing as hard and well as possible. I understand being part of a team that are seemingly playing for the end of the season thats not easy.

I'm not sure Eriksen would be fighting hard to put himself in the shop window? Ultimately, if players were always willing to give 100% to put themselves in the shop window, then they'd always give 100% no matter what. They are always playing in front of the cameras.

Truth is, even if 8 or 9 players are giving it everything, if you are carrying 2 or 3 players because their motivation is lacking, or their ability, it is always going to be a struggle. Man Utd were in the game up until the second half, had a set back or two and at that point the game is dead, and easy for all the players to get demoralized.

I've no idea what Eriksen's plans will be in the future, but I'm sure he'll get a decent contract in Saudi Arabia or USA if he wants one, without having to give 100% in the last few games this season (he may want to take it easy, and avoid any long term injuries). Lindelof is just awful ability wise, so even if he gave 100% it is unlikely going to help us much. Amass and Bayinder were probably nervy for different reasons. Just felt like a game where it was a mixture of players who will never be good enough and on their way out, and players who will not push too hard because they want to leave themselves as fresh as possible for Thursday. Sadly that didn't apply to Zirkzee. Managed to break into a 6mph sprint, and that snapped his hamstring :(

Bold bit - I think its going to be mayhem to finish the season! Forest are right back in the mix with everyone else after 2 weeks with no points! 3 points ahead is nothing!

No way are Forest nailed on any longer. The pack has nearly caught them, Newcastle may pass them on Wednesday. I hope they do stay the course but it's suddenly become tough.

3-7 could be any of those teams currently in the mix. I can see Chelsea missing out, too fragile, so that leaves 4 teams fighting for 3 places. Great stuff, could be any of them.

I have to add - I think Villa may stumble if we keep going in the FA cup (and CL but thats a biiiiiig ask from here)

Our fixtures remaining:

Newcastle (H)
City (A)
Fulham (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Spurs (H)
United (A)

TOUGH finish

I would absolutely take Europa league though considering a poor first half to the season and lots of dropped points against teams we would expect to beat. The CL campaign did take its toll before Xmas.

It will also depend on the run in and who plays who.

There's nothing tough about the last 2, they've both thrown in the towel already :ROFLMAO: . I mean, it would be nice to play Southampton or Leicester but otherwise, those are freebies.

I think the cups may be your undoing, penalised for success........

Newcastle next up is a huge game. I suspect both teams would take a point if you offered it now.

Im sure they would too! :ROFLMAO:

Spurs and United are that type of game - should win, especially home v spurs...

United away never goes well for us, and they'll be gagging for a win against us last game of the season. Good finish though and one Ill be at for sure!
