The worst thing is that I think Onana will play on Thursday!

Sadly, I don’t think Amorim would be wise to start Bayindir. If the game hinges on one moment, and that moment is a Bayindir mistake, that would come in for bigger criticism than if it was Onana.

I like Bayindir. I think he’s a decent shot stopper. But against a team which presses high up the pitch he looks very flustered with the ball at his feet.

A new keeper in the summer is just another addition to the list.

The first half wasn’t great. The second half was awful. I’m not confident of getting anything on Thursday.
How many players do you think the manager can and will change for next season? I'm not normally that pessimistic about clubs but having seen you a few times recently, it looks fairly grim. Players, style....... it's currently not working.

The best thing about the Newcastle result today was the fact that we took advantage of rivals (Brighton, Forest, Chelsea) all slipping up when they would reasonably have expected to have won before the weekend started.

Just need to consolidate todays result by beating Palace on Wednesday and will be in the box seat in what is now a 5 horse race for 3 places. A lot is within our own control as we have to play Villa, Brighton and Chelsea in our remaining fixtures. Fulham will also have a big say in what happens as they have to play Chelsea, Villa and Man City.

Is it easier to say which players should stay

The squad prob needs massive changes , it’s hard to see the real quality

United need some very creative recruitment in the summer

In the past they could just spend their way out of this. Not sure they can do that this summer, the rules will hamper them. Not many, based on recent weeks, are nailed on to stay.

The interesting question in these situations, if you are making a combined team from Newcastle and Man Utd, how many Man Utd players are selected? Answer is obviously not many. Go down the division and ask the same question. How far down would you have to go before you really start to take a number of Utd players? It's further than it should be.

We need at least five signings - wingbacks on both sides, recognised central striker, probably another to play alongside, and some creativity behind. If you add a goalkeeper to the list that’s six.

Clearly PSR is an issue, but as I’ve said previously if Rashford and Antony go, Lindelöf and Eriksen will also be out along with Casemiro in all likelihood. If Mainoo and/or Garnacho also leave, all of that frees up significant squad space and cash.

A massive summer ahead, and the irritation is that selling clubs will cash in more than ever because of the mess.

CB’s that can play in a back 3 ?

Does Brailsford have anything to do with it anymore

Everton are in a similar position although we are in a better position, I'd argue, because we don't need to get rid of deadwood at a loss. We've been through that stage already. Our loanees will both be going back, we have players out of contract. We will need to bring in 4-5 players but for us it's quite exciting for the summer. It's a new start, with a decent base behind us. Expectations are different, I do get that.

Recruitment for both clubs will be massive. Both will need to be very clever.

I can think of another team also waiting for their new manager bounce

On a more serious note, can you see an improvement? Even if results aren't going your way
Yes definitely, although the results have not been great we are playing much better. He was given a very slow team, low on confidence, looking like a bunch of strangers… we are still very slow but we do look like a team again.

Massive massive improvement

Everyone bangs on about sacking Moyes, he was never sacked. He was offered a deal. Didn't want to commit to the role offered and then parted mutually

We appointed the wrong manager , signed unbalanced

We now have the right manager... We don't have his players but he is getting a tune

He beat arsenal. We more than did enough for a point against Liverpool , normally we roll over at anfield for them. Moyes was never good for us against the top 6 we have given teams good games

He is trying a lot of things out to see what works for next season. We can't go down. It's just a long pre season for potter to assess the squad and see where he can strengthen
