Grobelaar wasn't great. šŸ˜‚

Nah, in fairness I don't think Mignolet was top class. Reina was very good. Dudek hit and miss. Westerveld.. going back a bit but I don't think he was great was he?

That’s the issue

It seems a player is either ā€œdireā€ or top class

No middle ground for some

Mignolet was a very good prem GK

Reina was outstanding

Dudek very good

Vesterveld good

Karius - awful

Grobelaar was brilliant for us for a long time

I went back through L’pool’s keepers all the way back to Tommy Lawrence, who was the last one I could remember. I think you’ve had 2 poor keepers in 60 years.

Not wishing to start a rumble about other clubs fan’s prejudices, the majority of other fans only see the odd match. Home fans see a lot more of their own players, and knowing how brutal they can be with an underperforming player I think they often have a more balanced view.

Who would you have the 2nd alongside Karius ?

I only saw the first half. From what I was seeing then, PSG were constantly ripping through Liverpool. Had they been 4 or 5 up, it wouldn't have been a shock. Just looking at brief highlights to remind myself of some of the opportunities, PSG

Had a free shot from the penalty spot and managed to bobble it over the bar
Had a goal correctly ruled out for offside, but the offside was fortunate, rather than being great defensive team work
Had a great one on one chance, before the player being barged over, no foul given
The one on one chance you spoke of, when the player came in from the left. The move wasn't dead, as after this Liverpool blocked another shot and then thee PSG blazed the rebound over the bar from about 10 yards
Another great chance where the player mazed into the box from left, and took a low shot to the keepers right, which he did brilliantly to save

I'm sure Liverpool improved defensively in the second half, as it seemed pretty shambolic in the first half. It was not like PSG had 70% possession, but struggled to create any decent chances because Liverpool's defence were rock solid and snuffed out any hope they'd ever get a chance.
This is all true.
But it could have been 0-4 for Liverpool if we were a bit more ruthless with the 3 on 3 we had in the game.
But we didn’t through bad passes.

Blimey forgot about him

Think it was Rafa that brought him in as cover and then stayed for about 5/6 years

He played in our first FA Cup final, our first choice was injured. Boro went 1-0 down to Chelsea in the first few minutes courtesy of him thinking a shot was going over the bar. It didn’t. He jumped but laid his hands back over, almost parallel to the ground. He was never instilling of confidence. He went out on loan about half a dozen times before someone was daft enough to buy him - Liverpool. Think he rarely played for Liverpool before going out on loan again.

Think he ended up in Europe. I doubt he got many matches wherever he went.

Not sure if already posted ,Stuart Pearce has had a heart attack whilst on a plane .hope all goes well for him .

Yeah was upset to hear this. From reading a couple of reports it doesn’t sound majorly serious, thank goodness. Im hopeful that it doesn’t sound like a full blown ā€œheart attackā€.

Get well soon Stuart. Legend in my eyes.

Liam Roberts, Millwall’s keeper, has had his ban increased from 3 matches to 6.
My personal opinion is that 3 games was sufficient, I get that other people have different thoughts, but for me he went for the ball and you could tell there was no intention to hurt him, it’s just how it ended up with the nudge and speed it happened.
Will be interesting to read the FA report when it comes out.

But should a keeper be going that high with his feet?
If it's the other way around, there would be a furore at the poor defenceless keeper and a minimum of 6 game ban.
If the keeper hits the player trying to punch the ball that fine, but going with his feet no it's not.
