If PSG had scored 5, that would have been about fair based on how one sided it was.

This Liverpool team has a really handy ability to get big decisions in their favour at key moments and big decisions against them in no moments. If the ref correctly sends off Konate, the tie is over.
If refs got everything correct Liverpool would have won a few more PL titles!

But they don’t!

Difficult to see how it can be concluded Liverpool defended well last night, when many agree on another night they could and should have been battered. If they were to play that game again tomorrow, I'm not sure they'd want to defend the same way?

I felt only Allison came away with huge credit. But I always feel that when a GK gets a man of the match performance, it is because the defence has been leaky and not performed optimally.

But it is always a good sign when a team can earn results when playing poorly. They certainly managed that.
I do remember De Gea getting plenty of MOM over the years.

But it’s why Liverpool paid the money for Allison ( he won us the game not Elliot)

Eyebrows were raised when we payed so much for a goalkeeper!

Indeed. And when he was getting MOM, it was fair to say the defence were generally not being praised for their good work.

I think his transfer fee was quickly masked as Chelsea signed Kepa for an even bigger fee shortly after. At which point Alisson had proved he was much better than Liverpool goalkeepers of the past, which wasn't difficult.

🤔

How far in the past do you mean

As with most clubs we have had some quality GK’s

And some dire ones, of the recent past.

It's like Man Utd now. If they signed a very good playmaker / striker, it could be said they are much better than what they had in the past. Most people would understand that comment, and not start thinking it meant Best, Charlton, Cantona, Ronaldo, Rooney, Scholes were all inferior

Every club has had some “dire” ones - look at how many keepers Man Utd went through before and after Schmicheal

Looking at our past - dire ones , Karius and then not sure else is “dire”

That's fine, it's subjective. Just like it is about TAA's ability to defend.

I'm just saying that, in my opinion, Liverpool had some very poor goalkeepers pre Alisson, which is why many have said that when Alisson was bought, it was a solution to a problem Liverpool had for years.

I agree every club had had dire players, never said different. Why would you point out every club has had dire players, and then immediately get touchy about the suggestion Liverpool have had dire goalkeepers?

No one is getting touchy 🤷‍♂

Was just wondering how far back are you going ? Reina ? Dudek ? Mignolet

Or just the previous one Karius

I think the defence played well.
Given all the plaudits PXG are getting ( rightly so imo) but they never scored against us.!

A lot of shots were from outside the box , think there was just one save that Alisson made from a one on one
I only saw the first half. From what I was seeing then, PSG were constantly ripping through Liverpool. Had they been 4 or 5 up, it wouldn't have been a shock. Just looking at brief highlights to remind myself of some of the opportunities, PSG

Had a free shot from the penalty spot and managed to bobble it over the bar
Had a goal correctly ruled out for offside, but the offside was fortunate, rather than being great defensive team work
Had a great one on one chance, before the player being barged over, no foul given
The one on one chance you spoke of, when the player came in from the left. The move wasn't dead, as after this Liverpool blocked another shot and then thee PSG blazed the rebound over the bar from about 10 yards
Another great chance where the player mazed into the box from left, and took a low shot to the keepers right, which he did brilliantly to save

I'm sure Liverpool improved defensively in the second half, as it seemed pretty shambolic in the first half. It was not like PSG had 70% possession, but struggled to create any decent chances because Liverpool's defence were rock solid and snuffed out any hope they'd ever get a chance.

If Liverpool were so shambolic, why did the game finish 1-0 to Liverpool? And if PSG were ripping through Liverpool why didn’t they score?

Was it that Liverpool were too good for PSG, or were PSG too shambolic in attack?

Just asking :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Blimey - sounds like Adrian Durham and how “appalling” “disgraceful” “shambolic” we were in an away CL fixture were we kept a clean sheet and scored a goal to win 🤷‍♂️

Mourinho.. Post match last night. Turkish guy asks a long rambling question, it was long, Mourinho naturally could not understand and pretends to nod off.

Love him or hate him he is still Box Office.

Grobelaar wasn't great. 😂

Nah, in fairness I don't think Mignolet was top class. Reina was very good. Dudek hit and miss. Westerveld.. going back a bit but I don't think he was great was he?
