I'd say that every team has decisions that don't go their way in nearly every game, in which they thought it should go their way. Most of them probably don't lead to anything, or stop a major thing from happening, so it largely gets forgotten.

I watched the Utd game yesterday, and was cursing the linesman when he flagged Dalot offside (score 1-1 at this point) as he ran into the box from the left wing and had a chance to put in a dangerous pass (or maybe even shoot himself). I assumed he'd be miles offside, but replays showed he wasn't offside at all. Big important game, that sort of thing has legs for criticism. But, against Man Utd at the moment, it is largely irrelevant as the team are that bad that a few dodgy decisions like that really seemed to be pointless in arguing about. There are plenty of times where Utd players are getting barged over and often referees seemed to let play go, but when an opponent goes down easily they are instantly given a free kick. Moan about it at the time, but again all the attention is on how poor Utd are after the game that refereeing in the game is largely forgotten.

Incidentally, has Taylor only refereed 2 Forest games this season, and 4 last season?

In the last 12 months he been ref in 4 of their games

Twice against Newcastle, One against West Ham and one against Soton

The players didn’t also help themselves yesterday with the amount of squealing and throwing themselves to the ground both sides were doing

I remember donkey's years ago Uriah Rennie was demoted due to poor performance. Not sure if it's happened since. The standard of all refs have plummeted since VAR came in though. They've all been undermined and don't back themselves anymore.

I remember Uriah Rennie getting a standing ovation at the stadium of light many years ago as he’d sent Alan Shearer off the previous week.

Then look at the way Williams squealed when he was hardly touched

Both sets of players were throwing themselves to ground a lot

Arthur, I was at the game. I have also watched MOTD2. I have literally no idea what on earth you are talking about when you say players were “throwing themselves to the ground a lot”. You’ve given one example of a foul on Neco Williams. 🤷‍♂️

And even if they were, you appear to be suggesting that because of it, you’re happy that two serious and dangerous fouls (above in that Twitter link) go unnoticed and unpunished. That’s a completely ridiculous stance to take, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

Not suggesting anything 🤦‍♂️

It was very clear that players from both sides throwing themselves to the ground very easily

There was another occasion when Anderson grazed a guys face and the guy screamed as if he was shot

In a previous post here, in a discussion about bad refereeing decisions, you stated

“The players didn’t also help themselves yesterday with the amount of squealing and throwing themselves to the ground both sides were doing”

That reads like you’re saying that because players were play-acting (which I disagree with anyway) it in some way leads to the referee making bad decisions and that they only have themselves to blame for that…? If that’s not what you’re saying, what are you saying exactly?

You’ve seen eight minutes or so of highlights in which you saw some fouls committed. You have made the incorrect conclusion that players were diving and play acting throughout the game. Are you able to take it from someone who sat and watched the entire 104 minutes of the game that you have got a false impression?

What the highlights do not show is a catalogue of refereeing mistakes by Anthony Taylor. They showed neither of the two horrendous fouls on MGW, or any of the others. It was not a simple case of human error, making a couple of mistakes. The man lost control of the game. He’s either corrupt and has a vendetta against MGW, given what he did in the Brighton game - or he’s incompetent. Take your pick.

But I know it’s pointless arguing with you. You will double down on your assertion that everyone was diving and squealing, despite not seeing the full game. And you will continue to dismiss disgusting fouls like those two I linked to as just being mistakes any referee could have made. So….have a good night I guess. 🤷‍♂️

Trust me if there is one club that have done a bottle job of epic proportions. It’s Liverpool. They and Arsenal have shot them selves in the foot more than once. The only surprise was they managed to hit there foot.
Throw that hand grenade in there, and close door.
Love it Tashyboy

I'm starting to think the majority of "top level" refs now days are pretty useless. They use var as a get out of jail free card for so long they stopped worrying about general refereeing.

I'm not massively into the conspiracies but you can see club to player bias aswell. Players booked for tackles (that by the book are yellows, pulling back etc) but other players allowed 4-5 of the same before a card is shown.

It's all just kind of a mess.

As I said - the players don’t help themselves

That doesn’t mean that Taylor didn’t mess up as I had already stated in a previous posts

Refs make mistakes , they give horrific bad decisions - it’s not just started

Forest aren’t the first to get refs decisions going against them and they won’t be the last

But it still very much a fact that the players have not helped them and don’t help themselves in games by the amount of times they are throwing themselves to the ground with little or no contact

these sort of discussions have been going on for years and guess what the answer is has always been

It happens , get on with etc etc

in any game there will be one ref making a mistake and 11 players trying everything to gain advantage and that’s even down to claiming corners and throws in they know aren’t there

When the players and that’s all players start playing with respect then nothing will change

Oh facepalm back at you Arthur!
