Always make me laugh when people say they hate someone else, without actually meeting or knowing them. Yes, you may dislike a person but hate?

I think that's just the richness of the English language. People just use it as a turn of phrase and aren't necessarily attaching the level of meaning to it that you perhaps do.

Eg. When my wife says to me "If you come home drunk, I'll kill you." I don't take that to mean that if I have a few too many, she will actually end my life.

I sort of assume the Son hatred is just a mickey take, because he does come across as one of the nicer guys in football? I've heard it a few times now, so it seems to have become a bit of a meme.

It was a trip - it was petulant at the end of the day and that’s why the red card was rescinded

So yes context is key , there is a clear difference between dirty and petulant

It was a very unfortunate injury

Not sure what Pickford poor high tackle has to do with anything

Who decides dirty or petulant? It was a foul, no attempt to play the ball, 100% intentional, therefore he is fully responsible for the consequences.

And I mention the Pickford 1 to add context, amazing how you can see Son’s actions as unfortunate, but Pickfords as deliberate!

Son tripped Gomes and from that trip Gomes studs caught in the turf and he dislocated his ankle

Son was in bits afterwards because of the injury

Son’s reaction to Gomes injury shows how hard it is for players to walk away

A bit of context! Son was not happy about not getting a foul a few moments before and chased after Gomes, did he intend to foul Gomes, absolutely 100% Yes, did intend to break his ankle, absolutely 100% No.
It was still a result of Son’s petulance.

Look how convinced you lot are about Pickford on VVD, Pickford apologised, said he had no intent to injure VVD, yous wanted him banned for life!

The same panel who rescinded Son’s Red Card took no retrospective action against Pickford! Were they right or wrong both times?

Not at all. He broke gomes ankle. Cried that he isn't that kind of player then fee games later was sent off for lashing out at someone. Yeah really not that kind of player

He pushed Gomes, like happens in a game of football dozens of times every single game, and the resulting fall had very unfortunate consequences for Gomes. He didn't fly in two footed, knowing there was a good chance he could hurt his opponent.

As for dirty tackles, I've never felt he was in that category. Certainly not Vinnie Jones style, or even Paul Scholes who'd mis time the odd hard challenge

And what “panel” - Pickford wasn’t given a red card so didn’t need to go to a panel

Cole Palmer was at City from 2010-23, he was born in Wythenshaw, the heartlands of City supporters. He had one season in the first team as a pro and played 19 games in a season where City won a shed load of trophies with world class players. He held his own. Yet like I say, he wanted to move on for more football when this was his breakthrough season. I could understand if he had been at City for 2-3 seasons and languished on the bench. But his time at City around the players he played alongside helped to develop him into the player he is now.
Best of luck to him.
