As they are friendlies, do people think that squad/fringe players should be used to see who may be good enough to play in 'real' games or should a full strength team be picked to allow people to know each others game and get used to playing together and play how the manger wants them to? Personally I would like to see the first game use fringe players and then the 'proper' team in the 2nd

goes back to him leaving the World Cup and the stories from the Eng camp as to why

Yeah, I just didn’t know if there had ever been any news on what those reasons were?

I know Southgate has poured cold water on any suggestion it involved Steve Holland, but my curiosity is in overdrive.

It needs to be a mix. The fringe players, if they are real prospects, need to be judged on how they play with regular first team players around them not a team of newbies. Put 2 or 3 new players in each starting 11 and maybe sub on different ones later on.

The problem is, if you don’t use some of these “fringe” players in non competitive games, when do they play?

We know what the established players can do. I’d love to see Southgate, just for once, throw caution to the wind and sling in a curve ball with some of his selections.

I don't mind the squad too much to be honest, even though we can argue until we are blue in the face who we think should and should not be there. Personally, I wouldn't have Henderson, and I'd give Mainoo a chance to get some experience in the squad. I'm sure there are arguments for others.

But, at least he has dropped Phillips who has been a car crash of a player. Given Pickford is clear number 1, then I'd definitely go for Ramsdale. Butland is 31 now, so I'm not sure there is anything to gain by having a 31 year old on the bench, rather than bringing 25 year old Ramsdale who at least gets to mix with the other England players, and may well be their goalkeeper at some point in the next 8-10 years. Besides, did Joe Hart have any good spells with Celtic, and were there many calls for him to get back in the England squad?

Apparently White asked not to be considered
Football is a hectic calendar. Apart from a bit of a summer break, players have at least a game or 2 every week.

So, when there are international fixtures, it gives players like White at least a week off, and a chance to catch some rays and top up the tan. Beats the sunbed.

No one's released any information about what happened, but my theory remains the same - White seems like a bit of a lone wolf who perhaps is hard to get on with, possibly fell out with a few people in the England camp so was encouraged to pack his bags. As a result he's no longer interested in being called up. These things happen.

Don't forget the teeth whitening and hair salon :-)
