What on earth is going on when our fans go abroad this year, a Rangers fan has been killed and 2 Brighton fans stabbed in the space of 24 hours!!!!!

Its just not acceptable. Fans need protection, they are outnumbered by a landslide. I appreciate that some of the blame will be with the people involved on both sides, but how is this okay.

Fans are the lifeblood of football, but no one should lose a life because they attend a football match.

Did the Rangers fan die through violence, I might have missed the cause.

Got to look hard to read news on BBC or Sky about the Roma incidents. Only got there through your link on BBC. I guess such news is not considered "big news" anymore, and so doesn't make the main headlines. Go away in Europe, and expect a few stabbings sadly.

From an outsiders' point of view, it does seem like every effort is made to sweep these incidents under the rug. Report what happened then move it off the front page.

Honestly unsure about that one..

You're both right, it took me a few minutes to find the Brighton one (heard about that yesterday though) after I read the Rangers one.

Football fans are treated as a nuisance and troublemakers in the tabloids. The vast majority are neither of those things. They travel up and down the country and abroad in support of their teams, spending hard earned money in local communities.

But apparently they do not justify actual protection against things like this.

The Brighton fans attacked were simply walking back to their hotels and jumped by men in balaclavas... why on earth anyone felt that necessary I don't know.

Id moderately understand it if they were giving as good as they got out in Rome but they weren't, its another isolated attack on English fans.

Not on.

But it does not suit the narrative to have British fans portrayed as the victims. I think for decades now it seems that we have been taking the flack for any and all problems whilst the European teams and press are happy to ignore the failings of their own fans, happily twisting the facts to suggest provocation or just to simply pretend it does not happen.

Everton lucky there are 3 teams worse than them. Awful performance defensively

They were hard done by against us for sure but today they shot themselves in the foot

2 pens given away, 2 more could have been if not for VAR and an offside

United had it easy and the pound shop pep gets to live to fight another day

23 shots apparently but only 6 on target 🙄. Gave away 2 stupid penalties but if you don't score you are going to be in trouble.

At least we are having a go but if we don't start scoring soon then Luton will reel us in.

Dunno their looking terrible ATM, on the way to 5 defeats

That match is exactly why I don't have a big issue with the "pound shop Pep"

For anyone who watched the match, you will note just how abysmal United were at the most basic of things, like a 5 yard pass.

There are several players in that make shift team who are simply reactive. They don't float into good positions, but try and run once ball is in motion and too late. Too many players need to rush passes, but even if easy passes are on, players like McTomminay are so poor. Casemiro had a stinker in 1st half, one of our better players.

ETH shouldn't need to teach players how to pass a ball 5 yards. And, getting naturally into good positions, I suspect, is very much down to football intelligence and can't really be learned

Since ETH started, it is almost like Utd need about 3-4 seasons to gradually get rid of the dross, and build up a team of players for the future. Pep manages that team now, McTomminay is still not going to boss the midfield. Rashford won't turn into Foden or Silva. And we didn't even have a striker again.

You say gradually get rid of dross but would any of those players make it in the starting lines up for the top 3?

Honestly Im no spurs fan but I don't think many would get in their line up either

In that 11 on pitch? Struggle to.

But, I like Hojlund, Garnacho, Mainoo, Martinez and Shaw.

I think Bruno, Casemiro, Dalot, Varane and Onana would all be capable of good football in a decent side.

Rashford is just frustrating, I think a big issue is he has no football.brain, like they used to throw at Walcott.

Lindelof and McTomminay are very much passengers in that side. If a cross is hit into box, I wouldn't mind McTomminay on end of it. But all else is dross.

It is a difficult game when you have 1 or 2 massive passengers, and better players will even struggle to shine when they aren't getting good options around them. And with no focal point up front, it also doesn't help. I'm sure that formation is not one Utd want to play at all, they desperately need a few options up front, rather than rely on Hojlund.

But, not many players get into the best side on the planet at the moment, City, to be fair.

its not just city tho

you have liverpool and arsenal they all would struggle to get into the 11s and that is worrying

True. But the first step is to try and have enough decent players so that we are not carrying passengers I'd imagine.

I listed players. I think Hojlund, Mainoo, Garnacho, Martinez and Shaw could all play in the top sides, and probably one or 2 others like Bruno. Not saying they'd 100% get in ahead of the players already in those teams all the time, but could slot in when needed and not make them weaker.

But, there are probably 3 or 4 Utd players in the starting 11 at the minute that would not get a million miles near those teams. If I replaced Haaland with Rashford, Silva with McTomminay and Walker with Lindelof, I reckon City would struggle. Liverpool may well beat them with ease tomorrow with just those 3 players in the City side. It may well be why Phillips never got in the side. Just one player, but Pep probably thought just putting him in ahead of Rodri would risk too big a drop in team performance.

What is wrong with the TV camera in Arsenal game. Seems to keep going to weird angles, and zoomed quite far out most of the time.

Edit, just realised I was on Sky Channel 403, which shows it in a weird mode

But that's the entire point. Recruitment has been better at city. Yes they have money but you have spent equally but very very poorly
