So, I was talking about losing the ball whilst in possession, rather than completed passes.

Yet now that I've had a 10 minute search, every website I've looked at has Grealish with a higher pass completion % than Saka

Grealish is also way down the list on dribbles completed. None of the sources (one is the official PL website) I use have Saka lower than Grealish in pass completion, in fact Grealish doesn't even feature in the Top 100 of any I've seen.

Dispossession stats aren't great either, which is probably a truer metric of your claim. Ross Barkley at Luton sits on the same number and he's played a lot more for a worse side. Declan Rice who has played almost every minute and doesn't hide on the touchline has better stats. Even Doku who is viewed as a pace merchant gets tackled less.

Grealish is a good player that Pep moulded to fit a winning system last year, he's now been benched and replaced. I'm sure in a 60 game season for City he'll come in and do well at patches but this idea he never gives the ball away is laughable. He just plays it safe, still gives it away and wins a few free kicks. I'd definitely have him as a bench option for England but no more unless he bothered to take people on and make things happen.

Am not sure he ruined him. He don’t give the ball away. Win more free kicks that any other player at City and helped to win the treble.

Success in that team doesn't mean he's been improved. He's always had technical ability.

He's lost the thing that made him such an exciting player and is just a robot now. I hope that doesn't happen to Doku too.

WhoScored has Grealish at 87.9% pass success and dispossessed 1.3 times per game. Saka 83.3% and dispossessed 1.5 times. I too think Saka is better than Grealish but I don't know where you're getting your stats from. 😄

Barnsley are probably happier with being kicked out of the cup rather than cop a six-figure fine like Liverpool got.

Do you think the authorities took this into account?

As in, did they say to themselves “When Liverpool did exactly the same thing, we bestowed upon them the second worst thing we could do to them. Barnsley would rather be kicked out than face a six figure fine. So let’s do that.”

Cos I don’t reckon they did.

It wasn’t exactly the same thing.

maybe they gave them the choice, bit like when you get done for speeding :D

but no, I'm sure they didn't think "what punishment would they prefer?", and I never said that. But I've got a feeling Barnsley will be happier being kicked out rather than facing a hefty fine.

You may be right and I know you didn't say that. :)

Does stink of one rule for some and another rule for the rest though. But I'm sure someone can give a full explanation of why one club who fielded an ineligible player due to an unintentional error deserve expulsion from a competition, while another club who fielded an ineligible player due to an unintentional error only deserve a fine.

Because most football authorities are corrupt.

All teams should be treated the same no matter who you are.

Maybe the fine should be means tested.

It wasn’t the same offence!

That’s twice you’ve said that without qualifying your viewpoint.

Both fielded an ineligible player.

Both did it unintentionally as a result of an oversight/mistake.

The circumstances surrounding that oversight/mistake were slightly different yes, but amounted to the same offence - fielding an ineligible player.

So please do explain why one only got a pathetically low fine (for them) while the other got expelled from the competition.
