I have just seen the highlights of the toon v gunners game , VAR what are you doing ? Are you blind ?
I am not a gunner fan but they have been cheated just like Liverpool were and probably many other teams with the absolute diabolical decisions that VAR dish out week in week out . The ball was way off the pitch no part of any of the ball was in play. But VAR decide that Stevie wonder is in charge again.
I have been an advocate of VAR in the past but the rubbish being dealt to teams this season is beyond belief.
I've totally had my gabbber well and truly flasted .
From the camera angles I saw, couldn't tell if ball was out. The bottom of ball was over line by a bit, but side of the ball could have still easily been in. From the angles I saw on TV.

However, Arsenal still had to defend, whistle didn't go. It still looked a pretty clear 2 handed shove on defenders back, but you are at the mercy of what ref you have and mood they are in I suppose.

The Sheff Utd penalty was crazy. Attackers foot got stuck in ground and caused him to fall over. As he started going down, there may have been marginal contact with Wolves player as he Utd player fell over. But the Wolves player didn't cause him to fall.

The problem with the ball being out was that they didn't have the angle to prove it. It looked out in real time but the camera angles couldn't show and prove it. If they couldn't show it as fact then they had to stick with the onfield decision. That wasn't the fault of var, they just need even more cameras 😄. The other parts of the goal were fine, Arteta just threw his toys out of the pram.

As mentioned in previous posts, both teams should have been down to 10 though, var bottled those decisions.

It just goes to show that behind VAR is the human making the decisions, and that those decisions are opinion based. Some thought the ball was out, some didn’t. There was a decision to be made on the potential offside, but that was an easy one. And then there was the potential push in the back. VAR(REF) thought it wasn’t a push. I still think it was.

Did the ref get the tackle/foul/booking right that saw a yellow for Arsenal and 3 yellows for N’castle? I think the ref got that one right. I thought the Arsenal player missed with the studs up, leading foot but it was his trailing foot that made contact with the N’castle player.

As for the forearm ‘smash…’ Red all day long.

We, the armchair clappers, also get the benefit of slo-mo, freeze frame & multiple cameras, though we don’t have the control the VAR ref has, and we can’t agree on the decisions.

I don’t doubt VAR is helping with some decisions but it’s doing an excellent job of highlighting how poor the human element of VAR is.

Not just the ball out of play LT ,but the two handed shove at the back post and the obvious off side , unbelievable stuff.
Like I say I'm not a gunner fan but a football fan ,and what happened in that game wasn't by the rules as I know and played to for many years.
Neville on commentary thought the defender ducked down to glance the header and that meant Joelinton automatically came over the top of him. Same incident, different viewpoint 🤷‍♂️.

As for the offside, again, they couldn't get the angle on it. It might have been tight but it couldn't have been clear.

If the goal had been ruled out I doubt it would have been overturned for the same reasons the goal given wasn't overturned. It's one of them.

The ball being out or not I can just about live with because there was no image that proved otherwise. The two hands in the back for me was astonishing. The defender is in front he has positioned himself to head it clear and the shove pushes him under the ball.
But as I say, we will be having these discussions every week.
I saw a shirt pull yesterday against one of the City players. It was worse than the one City got against Utd last week but nothing went to VAR.

Exactly. One group of experts say that was a foul, turn over to another and they think not. The ball wasn’t conclusively out of play, so play on. Offside, nothing obvious to say he was off, so goal stands. The forearm to the head was something that the VAR should have acted on though.

I suppose had the goal been disallowed for any of the 3 things they were looking at, Newcastle would have been furious.

I guess it is just annoying it takes 4 or 5 minutes for VAR to look at it. Necessary, I guess, to stop them making a major blunder potentially. Had VAR not been available, it probably wouldn't be an overly controversial incident. Maybe a few groans, but nothing like the reaction it has had

The defender was weak. He should be standing firm and jumping to win that header, not looking for a VAR ruling. No clear and obvious error. It's football, not interpretative dance.
Speaking of which, I saw stronger challenges and less crying on Strictly last night. 😘

And of course they voiced their concerns in support of Klopp after "that" game...........
It wasnt about supporting Klopp or Liverpool. It was their chance as a collective to hold the PGMOL to account and improving the standard of officiating.

Instead it was decided it was Klopp/Liverpool just moaning because a decision went against them. Some people cant see the woods for the trees.

Reap what you sow.

It wasn't two hands in the back, the idiot defender stooped to header the ball because he thought the goalie was going to get it but didn't and then flopped to the ground like a dying fish looking for a foul.

The reality is they all want the ref or var to do their job for them rather than doing themself, defend hard, hold your ground, attack the ball, play to the whistle attack the man with the ball don't stand off, the Goalie continuing to move forward making it easy for the ball to be chipped over him.

Blame the ref, blame Var but lets not blame the players for not doing their job properly eh.

Arsenal 1 shot on targe in 90 minutes, pathetic, I really used to like Arsenal as a team but that Arteta is a right whinging muppet.
