Sometimes but not always it is in the penalty box…all the time but typically see Cooper for Scotland against France recently, pulling Giroud’s shirt. VAR gives a pen.

Late in the first half on Saturday night Harry Maguire was wrestled to the ground in the Sheffield United area. A proper man handling it was. No interest at all from the referee, no apparent VAR check but, most interestingly of all, no claim for a penalty at all from Maguire.

I wonder if players have been told not to bother any more in such circumstances as they’re wasting their time.

Typo…meant to say re shirt pulling in box resulting in a pen ‘…not all the time’ 🙄

You know whats mad, if Ollie scores that last minute goal v wolves, Villa would be joint top of the table now... :ROFLMAO:

Maybe on that issue. Referees don't seem to give for shirt pulling unless it completely yanks someone off their feet before they score. They also don't give penalties if a defender barges an attacker in the back just before they get a shot away, and then the shot goes wide.

And, after all the fuss that was made by Gary O'Neill, Wolves and fans after Wolves didn't get a penalty against Utd, it is interesting that barely a word has been raised about the Chelsea goalkeeper cleaning out Jesus when he missed the ball by miles. It wasn't really discussed in detail by the commentators at the time. On MOTD they did say it was a penalty, but again it didn't come across as a major controversial incident. I'd have thought there would have been hell to pay for, given the attention the Wolves one got, the fact that Moss apologised and that the officials were allegedly sat down because of it the following week. Had this game happened the week after the Wolves game, I'm sure it would have 100% been given as a penalty. But, as time has passed and other controversial incidents have occurred, it is clear that officials are less sensitive to such incidents. It seems clear that goalkeepers have always been given a greater license to wipe other players out and get away with it. Yet the smallest of touches on them, and referees are quick to award them a foul.

Have to hold my hands up Emery is doing a cracking job at Villa. I said I wouldn’t touch him after Arsenal, but he’s proved me wrong.
Wasn’t Douglas Luiz out in the cold and was rumoured to be leaving ? What a turnaround now though

I think a lot of players were pushed out to be honest, Gerrard had some very weird thoughts about the team that never came out well on the field.

Its alight and day now, as you say Luiz looks outstanding now, by far our best player and I've no doubt will be linked to other clubs in the summer - his ability is immense!

I'm annoyed, I had Douglas Luiz in my fantasy team in the first draft as he was cheap and plays often, but I took him out as I figured defensive midfielders don't score many goals. Why is he scoring goals??

because you took him out :ROFLMAO:

Simon Thomas is not Jeff Stelling. So I wish he’d stop trying to imitate him. His manner, tone, even the words and phrases he uses, are more Stelling than Thomas.

Someone at Sky please just tell him to be himself.

The show is finished. Sky have scored the biggest own goal in their history by destroying that show which had years left in it.

Another toothless half from Man United.
I'm going to point a big finger, and I'm going to point it at Rashford.
He slows the pace play so much as he tries to cut in and face up the defender, standing still, waiting for the defender to make the first move.
I'd go Garnacho, very direct and pretty unpredictable.
We need to move the ball about much quicker.
But hey, what do I know.

Rashford has been dire this season but it was silly to give him such a big contract on the back of one very good season. He's got the ability but is only capable of playing in the left wide forward role where he can be either deadly or incredibly selfish. Garnacho has potential but isn't the level Man Utd need starting in the first team. It all goes back to bad recruitment and the manager for me. I can't see where any improvement is going to come from. The side has looked stale for 9 months now.
