Can't knock it, but we have only beaten crap teams so far. Pretty easy fixtures on the whole.

You can only beat what’s in front of you. We beat Man U and Liverpool courtesy of VAR 😁. Our great test was Arsenal away which was a fantastic point. Even Luton away is not to be sniffed at, particularly with 10 men. Also the newly promoted teams early in the season have great enthusiasm.
I get what you’re saying to a degree, but it’s looking good so far with the entertaining performances and positive feeling.

Yeah... Arsenal was certainly a good point as that was the biggest challenge we've had, considering Liverpool imploded in getting two red cards and a smashing own goal. And Man Utd have proven to be rather poor so far. You're right though, the football appears to be better in the few bits that I've seen, and we're covering the absence of Kane's goals by simply creating more chances than he had to work with. Maddison looks like the signing of the season for the Premier League so far.

These are the Mondays that are most depressing. No PL footy for best part of 2 weeks, as we go into yet another boring international break. England v Australia, hard to get excited about that one

See I'm glad we have got into the international break in the place we are in the table / form / injuries

However in terms of waiting for the next game it's dire

Considering how crammed the season is it's ridiculous

Maybe with acon disturbing the season why not have an international break for the rest then or something who knows

Very inconsistent

Mistakes happen

But it's annoying when Emerson gets a yellow for waving a card

Almaron does it about 15 mins later nothing

He wasn't even on a yellow at the time so wouldn't have mattered

I thought the ref was very poor yesterday, there were two key decisions that went against us. The Guimares second yellow card that wasn’t given and the free kick given against Paqueta which led to their first goal. Didn’t see too much wrong with Paqueta's challenge tbh and not only did it give Newcastle a free kick but also stopped a potentially dangerous breakaway by us.

Can’t be long before Kudos gets a regular start.
I love Antonio's commitment but would prefer to see Bowen in the center with Kudos on the right and exchanging positions through the match. With them two and paqueta upfront we could have a very decent season.

I'd rather kudus in the Antonio role, he can do it all but faster now

I've been frustrated with Antonio for a while

He has about 10 good games a season and very arrogant about it (podcast)

Whilst the free kick was never a foul it still doesn't excuse poor defending, that should have been snuffed out and issak marked properly

Actually that makes a lot of sense, to put as many of the European international breaks as possible during the ACON.

I hate the acon, it ruins a season. You can't tell me managers don't actively avoid buying acon players because of it. I know we got in trouble for it for putting it in an official email

We will have benrahma, kudus, aguard and cornet at acon

If acon aligns with zoumas yearly 6 week lay off that's back to 2 centre backs missing

Benny, cornet and kudus play similar roles so could all cover each other .. so good that they all won't be gone

You could say "well don't sign so many acon players" but why should you avoid talented players for a tournament that runs mid season

Swear they moved it aswell and now it's back ..

We lose our midfield pairing as well in Bissouma & Sarr. Praying Bentancur is fully fit by then though. If we've got him and Hojbjerg it's fine. If it's Hojbjerg and Skipp... not so fine.

You could but when we did officially the guy was sacked for discrimination
The joy of the law. When you buy S.American or Central Amercian players they will be jet lagged after qualifiers, if you buy AFCON players they will go missing every couple of seasons for their tournament. You have to factor that in when building a squad, crazy not to.

Surely it depends how you word it though? If he said "don't sign any Africans" you could understand him losing his job. If you said "let's ensure we don't sign anybody who's likely to miss a month of the season, due to an international tournament or otherwise" then surely you're all good.

Yeah he didn't just mention acon

You said your club had a policy of not signing African players due to AFCON, and as a result someone was sacked for discrimination.

However, the article you posted doesn't seem to mention AFCON at all. It says that, when talking about African players, he said some "have a bad attitude" and that they "cause mayhem" when they are not in the team. That seems a clear and cut case to be booted out for discrimination.

@Orikoru
I believe at the time it was reported from other sources the acon was one of the reasons behind the "bad attuide" comment .. IE refusing to play for club before the acon so they didnt get injured

But yes in that article doesn't say about acon ... However if you refuse to sign players because of acon as an official policy it would be exactly the same outcome no?

Here we go , mentions acon in his explanation..

"It was never, ever meant to be racist in any way. The reason we said we didn't want any more Africans was because we already had three. The day before we'd had four, but one of them left.

"I just felt that, as a head of recruitment, I look ahead down the line and I thought that, in 12 months' time, it's the African Nations Cup. If we had four African players, come the African Nations Cup, we are going to lose them in January and February, and we could struggle with that.
