There is a need for one if the player has any desire to potentially play for a "bigger" club in the future, and they don't want the club they are contracted for to provide too steep an obstacle for that to happen.

I'm sure Kane was kicking himself he never had a release clause for his final, lengthy Spurs contract.
West Ham don't have a history for blocking transfers so I don't see him worrying too much. Spurs, Levy in particular, are a different kettle of fish. No Spurs player or agent will trust their word going forward, which causes it's own problems.

Indeed we gave rice an agreement he could leave at the price we were happy with and it actually worked out for everyone

In other news soucek scores an early opener

Perhaps they don't, but it is always a risk relying on faith that this would stay the same. Kane was obviously fooled by his so called gentleman's agreement with Levy.

However, Bowen may well be perfectly content at West Ham, earning whatever it is they are paying him. He may also assume he isn't going to he the type of player the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid will be chasing in a year or 2, so having a release clause may not be worth it. And maybe West Ham prepared to pay him more with no release clause?

2-2 is about fair

Newcastle prob lucky to have 11 first half .. and the first goal came from a free kick that was not a foul. However there's no excuse for the poor defending from it. One ball cut the defence

Sleeping for the second 5 mins later

Newcastle deserved the lead but great to see the new guy score the equaliser.. and we missed a golden chance in the 90th min

I hope this is the end of Antonio ..kudus looks much more the player we need in a fluid front 3 with Bowen and paquata

Wolves are always a bogey team for Villa. Happy to take the point today away from home but could have found a winner in the last 10/15. So many chances!

Things still all going well for the claret and blue 😍
