Lewis Dunk has been superb at the back in that first half. Southgate can be comfortable now in putting certain players out to pasture.

I’ve always rated Dunk. He has a far, far stronger claim to a starting place than the man who now plays only international, rather than club football.

Anyone would think Maguire now has a central contract with the FA.

Just turned this on...
I know that this reflects very badly on me, but I've never even heard of the gentleman who Maguire replaced.
Perhaps I need to get out more. Or maybe get out less?

England so so comfortable in this game, away against a rival Scotland team who have been playing well lately.

Yet, many English fans still moaning. Maybe that is why they don't get much respect :)

In fairness to Southgate, what is the point in playing a friendly with a whole bunch of new players you are never likely to use in anger. Instead, maybe he is wanting to see what some of his top players can do in certain positions. They've looked very solid, and been a few nice plays in attack.
