I can only assume Maguire has a photograph of Gareth Southgate in a compromising position. There can be absolutely no other explanation for the manager’s loyalty. None.

In fairness to Southgate, what is the point in playing a friendly with a whole bunch of new players you are never likely to use in anger. Instead, maybe he is wanting to see what some of his top players can do in certain positions. They've looked very solid, and been a few nice plays in attack.

So far, the 2nd half has turned into a typical international match. A shame after the more fluid 1st half.
