It does for the TV companies.

Big clubs gotta take the pros and cons of success. Can't be blaming tiredness after 2 games.

I would also add that the big clubs and most clubs in fact have a squad with enough players for at least 2 teams. Sadly the need to win every game means that most squads seem now to only be there for emergencies and when clubs say that the team is tired, what they mean is the first 11 names on the team sheet out of the squad are tired.

Enjoyed Pep's sarcasm at the press conference. Makes no sense our game being on Saturday.
It’s not just that City are playing on the Saturday. Yes the game has to be played but why not 4.30pm on the Sunday. That Game is 2 London teams. Most fans will be home an hour after the game. Newcastle fans after Saturday nights game will be getting home at 2.00 am in the morning.

If he is worried about playing too many games, maybe they should try and be a little less successful? However, if they have ambition to be successful, then they have to accept they'll play more games and that sometimes their next game might be a day earlier than they'd otherwise like. Playing at 8pm on Saturday night doesn't feel like a massive hardship, and I'm sure City have a big enough squad to cope?

I'd imagine the football schedule isn't just picked randomly either? I'm sure there must have been some logic to having City play on Saturday night rather than Sunday. Surely club representatives are in discussions with the PL and broadcasters, so if it turned out it was random then I'd think clubs would make a big song and dance about it, rather than rely on their manager making the odd sarcastic comment

Just one possibility, although may be irrelevant. Perhaps there wasn't sufficient policing available for West Ham versus Chelsea on Saturday night, but there was for Sunday evening?

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

City have won as many major trophies in the last 12 weeks as United have in the last 12 years.
Last night was a Major Trophy?

It might sound like an incredible statement, except it is an unsurprising statement for any team that has just won a few quick trophies in comparison to most other teams.

For example, when the final whistle went at the Nou Cap in May 1999, Man Utd fans could have said "Man Utd have won more trophies in the last 10 days than Man City have won in 31 years" :)

So because you're successful you just have to suck it up and accept poor scheduling...

Tough titties - you shouldn't win so much :)

In a nutshell, YES.

Or, if you think it is grossly unfair, have the Club officially challenge the PL and broadcasters, and investigate the reasons for "poor scheduling" and demand they fix it. If the Club have to rely on a sulking manager at press conferences to mention scheduling, it says to me that they don't have a leg to stand on by challenging the PL officially.

Not quite so direct but you should be able to dip into that signficant squad and put 11 players on the pitch. The game is not just about putting the first team out for every match. You could have had a whole team training at home for Saturday whilst the others were away at the Super Cup.

I've seen similar comments on social media about this but haven't watched, or followed, the match myself. Looked at the BBC Sport live text for the penalty shootout and then looked at the stats. Surely if Man City had a half decent striker they would have been out of sight based on the chances created.....

Or were the 8 Sevilla chances more clear cut than the 23 shots City had?

Not having a go at you or any other poster with a similar opinion as I haven't seen the game, but from the stats it looks as though City dominated it.
A lot of City's chances were half chances, blocked shots etc that occurred well after the three or four Sevilla chances (one on one's) that should have been buried. City did dominate possession but the better, clear cut chances fell to Sevilla who could have been 3 up before City equalised. Stats dont always tell the whole story...but I know you know that.

Agreed. For a neutral I thought it was a really entertaining game. And Sevilla definitely created the more clear cut chances.

Newcastle fans travelling back form London at approx 630pm would be knackered for Monday work.....

Let's not pretend it's doing them a favour.

If there was social media. They would have done. 😁
When Utd won the treble. City won div 2 play offs v Gillingham. That was probably City’s lowest point as a fan looking at Utd success. Oddly enough Utd never won the super cup that season.
On another positive. That’s another 5 €million In the bank from last nights win.

Nobodies pretending anyone is doing anyone a favour. But once more the fans are not a consideration

Newcastle potentially helping Chelsea fulfil their FFP commitments with a potential £30m deal for 18yo left back Lewis Hall.

Certainly building for the future with two full backs with a combined age of 35yrs on the books, if it happens.

From what I read yesterday that £30m goes straight off their years spending but their spending can be spread across 5 years. It means they are storing up problems for the future but this would be a great sale for them in FFP terms.

It seems steep from Newcastle. They need a left back but that much for someone unproven is a big step. Particularly when Chelsea already have at least 3 left backs and so need to shift at least one.

Saying that, they have not made a wrong move so far.......

Well if it’s true about PIF having billions in Clearlake you can see why
