I've seen refs do that hundreds of times in the mens game. Both before and after the player actually throws the ball.

Great goal by England btw
H'mm, subjective blindness by me perhaps. I'd bet there's far more instances or the blatant cheating, for that's what it is, being allowed than are pulled up though. And it's such a contrast to the pedantic precision requirement of free kicks.

Nowhere near as bad as this one. Stood off Kerr a little but are you ever expecting them to pop it in from 25 yards?? With a tiny deflection.
Bright was backing away opening up the goal rather than blocking it. She made a half hearted attempt to block from a poor position.

But the keeper was also culpable. She had both feet off the ground as the ball was struck (keepers bouncing is a pet hate of mine) giving her no chance to get to it.

Small mistakes maybe, but they are the margins at this level.

I don't know, Bright's not the quickest so if she doesn't back off Kerr probably skins her anyway. I think people are too critical of female keepers as well when they just don't have the reach of male keepers. Earps is 5'8! High dipping shots are always likely to be a weakness for her, and the slight deflection helped it as well. It was a good hit.

Game over now I think!

Instead of the Lionesses could we have the England Enyas.
Name stems from the Irish Gaelic name Eithne, which is sometimes Anglicized as Enya, meaning “ardent” and “little fire. It is also thought to be a shortened version of the Greek name Eirene, meaning “peace”.

Not sure what any of that has to do with England or Football.

I think Earps is class, seems to always be rock solid every time I've seen her play. A lot more composed than some male keepers I've seen. I think I'll forgive her for being beaten by a worldy effort from outside the box. It's not like a Premoer League goalkeeper has never been beaten by such efforts after all.....

Earps is a very good keeper. I’m not being overly critical, of her in particular for the bouncing. It annoys me when any keeper does it.

The Aus goal didn’t look particularly top bins. Earps gave herself no chance of getting to it by having both feet of the ground. You can see as she landed she couldn’t step to her right as the ball was already going past her.

It’s something Pickford is guilty of at times too.

Get in! Very professional performance. We've improved as the tournament has gone on. Toone stays and James as impact from the bench on Sunday.
I really enjoyed that. Well done England (…that’s quite easy to say and prob easier than if it were Kane & Co). And gratitudes to the BBC for showing the matches live. Roll on Sunday and the Final. It’s the sport that matters.👍
