We're also linked with Moussa Diaby quite heavily atm.

Having spent 35m on Pau Torres and possibly Diaby being up to 50 - im not sure we have another 40m+ for Johnson unless we sell some fringe players from the squad - which we need to!

He may be safe for another year but you have me excited :ROFLMAO:
Where do you guys stand in terms of FFP? That will restrict you more than anything. Are you moving any players on?

OK.

I've seen bits and pieces about it, but if it's him that actually wants to go, then that's worrying. And if he doesn't want to play for us, then yes he should go. But to Villa or Brentford ?? I don't see either as much of an upward step. He's better than that.
I can see Villa pushing for top 6 this season, you really think Johnson would have a place any higher than that?? The top clubs don't often take a punt on unproven players these days, they just buy them for more when they are proven later on. Other than maybe Newcastle I can't really see what higher up club would go for him?
Villa, at this point, is a definite step up from where we are as a club currently and makes a lot of sense;

- European Football this season
- Marquee manager pushing for top 6
- wouldn't need to re-locate from his home in Nottingham that he bought last year.

Brentford would absolutely be a step down - and he's definitely not going there I don't think (unless he REALLY hates Forest all of a sudden)....But Villa would be the next logical step - and if he continues to progress - he'll go to City or someone similar in 2 Years for silly money (so hopefully we have a sell on clause in the terms :D)

I don't disagree that Hendo should now be excluded. But I'm facing the facts that Southgate just picks who he wants, there is no set criteria other than "performed before" and therefore expect him to be included up until the end of this current Euros campaign.
It is funny when we read things, how the brain engages the patterns of words, and sometimes initially interprets the shape of one word incorrectly, to entirely shift the context of what you meant.

In the first milliseconds of seeing your post, my brain saw the word "excluded" and interpreted it as "executed". I thought that was a bit harsh on Hendo, before realising what you actually meant. Mind you, moving to Saudi Arabia means that whichever of those words were used in that sentence, both become possibilities.

Mate I have no idea. We've sold a few over the last few years but not many. I know Grealish went for 100m but we spent that replacing him - made some money back on Ings though.

Only real sales that made significant money I can think of from the top of my head are:

Grealish
Ings
Targett
Chuckwumenka

Seems we have money to spend though! :ROFLMAO:

I appreciate the Villa respect 🤝 hope your boys go well again this season!

Up the Midlands!

Unlike most Forest fans, I'm not too worried about Johnson leaving. He has been and will continue to be a great player, but MGW is a class above and seems happy to have a team built around him at Forest.

That has always been the case.

If Pickford warmed the bench at his club all the time, or various other players, Southgate would most likely never consider them. He'd have players like Pope or Ramsdale that have a high enough profile to step into the GK role. If Maguire warms the bench, he still gets picked because Southgate does not see a better alternative. If Kane warmed the bench (say, if he had gone to City and Haaland was getting picked ahead of him), he'd probably still easily get picked for England for quite a while. At least until he has a string of poor England performances.

The original point in the Henderson case is that he, HENDERSON, is the profile of player that if he was to move to the Championship or go in play in Saudi Arabia, USA, Japan, etc. then he'd simply be overlooked for England. Just like several other England players. KANE is the type of player who would definitely still be considered for England. There are many Portuguese players that would end their national hopes if they moved to Saudi Arabia. But RONALDO was the type of player that was still going to be considered.

For anyone failing to understand Orikoru's point, you are simply failing to understand or ignoring the subject of the point. You think he is saying "any player that moves to Saudi Arabia will rule themselves out of the England reckoning". It isn't what he said. The subject of his point was clearly HENDERSON himself, so shifting the context to other players like Kane is irrelevant.
Yes I agree.
Henderson is not going to get in Liverpools side now given the players we bought and still have.
I think he won’t play again for England anyway so it’s immaterial.
Imo he hasn’t got the legs to play in the Championship every week.
So a poorer standard for mega bucks makes perfect sense.
His choice is questionable imo but it’s his decision.

I know this is a joke...but just to add context to this - he's played one full season in the championship (with a further 9 assists) and one in the premier league (with 3 assists). And played League football for 3 seasons in total. 3 Seasons.

His speed is absolutely out of this world and would immediately improve any team's attacking threat because of it. Teams were double teaming him last season to combat it.
Yes I think if you put him in a top six team the lad would be a superstar.

I'm indifferent either way. It is what it is. If we recruit well and spend his money wisely, then no reason that him leaving completely changes the outlook of the team and how Steve Cooper wants to play.

Willian could do a job in his place this season if we sign him - Neco Williams was playing the role before he broke his jaw (and nearly scoring) towards the end of the season - and we're looking at Ibrahim Sangares from PSV, who, from what I can gather is basically peak Patrick Viera. Defensive midfield suddenly becomes an intimidating prospect to come up against.

Done some digging -

Apparently our net spend over the last 2 seasons is only £49m

Newcastle's is £302m...

I did wonder why they were saying they didn't have much to spend and why we seemed to :ROFLMAO:

So Liverpools current captain wants to join their former captain & take the Saudi money 😬
I’m more annoyed by Jordan if I’m honest. I wasn’t happy about Stevie, but the amount of work Jordan has put in in support of LGBTQ+ people in the last few years is all about to be undone. You can’t go and work for people who put people in jail for being gay, if they’re lucky, and keep your reputation for doing good. Massive massive faux pas, and I’m being nice at that…

As we have seen with golfers etc it’s clear that when big money gets put in front of someone morals go out the window

As you i would be very disappointed if he went to Saudi especially as you say with all the work he has done - i thought he was better than that

He prob isn’t going to start as much this season so if he wants to go to play more then there will be plenty clubs he could go too . It looked like he arrived with a renewed energy for the season but if he goes to Saudi it leaves a sour taste

It's been an awkward spell for a few footballers in the last few years. Accusations made, players suspended for 1-2 years then either no trial or an acquittal. I don't know the answer but it's unsatisfactory.

I'm a believer that people shouldn't be named unless found guilty, although difficult because of his profession.
There is no winners in any of this, he's a world class footballer who has missed 2 seasons of football and a world cup.
