What Maguire shouting twice for, twice he has tried to con the ref. Hopefully next year they will pull Maguire off for a head injury and leave him at the side of the pitch for a minute. Al bet Terry Butcher is wetting himself laughing watching that.

I was surprised and disappointed in equal measure. I’ll bet he feels a bit of a chump now.

Best put your old miners helmet on for the pelters Tash 😂

Al be honest BB, I could have named 50 players that would have done that before I even got Maguire. I had heard about it but not seen it.
On a side note. Talking to a guy who I played with today. An old pal from the pit. Anyway he is a Utd fan. We have chewed the cud many a time. He is a season ticket holder. He was buzzing when he brought up the game when Utd battered City this season. He honestly could not believe what he was seeing that game.

Me neither, Tash.

The thing with United during the last dozen years is that they have still remained capable of turning it on against the top sides, and getting results, but then really struggled to pick up points elsewhere.

And this is why I am baffled by some of the growing criticism I am reading about Carrick. Having beaten City and Arsenal, some fans are latching onto the performances against West Ham, Everton and Palace, saying that the concern they feel about the performances in those games outweighs the satisfaction in beating City and Arsenal.

Come on, people. Just what do you want? We beat the teams in first and second place, and then, for turning in allegedly sub-par performances in a couple of other games, whilst still filling our boots with points, Carrick is criticised for having no style of play. He can’t win, can he?

My take? I’m staggered to see United in 3rd place. Two months ago we were a mess, mid table with about as much hope of making top four as I have of gracing the fairways of Augusta in April. Anyone who thought Carrick was going to instil a clear and identifiable style of play into that side in half a dozen games should be sectioned, because they are madder than a box of frogs.

Carrick has steadied the ship, got results, secured points, and brought the atmosphere back to OT in a few short weeks. I certainly won’t get carried away, and will wait until May before I make any comment regarding the longer term future. But at the same time I will say the guy deserves a lot more credit than some so called United fans still seem willing to give him.

I talked to him about a picture he has on his whats app page. It’s from when Utd won the champs league in Moscow. He was grinning from ear to ear with that one. Said it never stopped raining.

That’s a real turn up for the books. And with either Chelsea, Villa, or both dropping points tomorrow, this is a huge opportunity for my shower to really cement a place in the top four.
