Does that mean that Gareth Barry is
A) A Legend
B) was but not now
C) never was a Legend

Great for James Milner has been a good solid squad player for a long period.

Yes he is legend due to the amount of games he played in the Prem, the number of seasons he has played and the impact he had on the teams he played during 22 years at the top level

Give it a rest folks, google “James Milner” and you get articles by the BBC and the Premier League calling him a legend.

Anyone up there making that many appearances will split opinions.

Fantastic achievment and so what if some think that makes him a legend.

The pile ons and liking each others posts then getting personal are the reason people get sick of this thread, nobody forces anyone to reply.

An outstanding player, exceptionally consistent but for me he never had that star quality. However, something that doesn’t get a lot of press is what he’s done outside the game. For me, that’s his star quality, and huge respect to him for doing so especially as he’s never trumpeted it or sought to say “hey, look at me.”

This comes up with many players.
They do lots of work outside of the game.
Remember hearing a few stories of the work African players do to help the communities they came from.

That’s where it comes down to defining a “legend” - there is no set definitions but for me it’s not just about someone’s ability or star quality etc

Players longevity at the highest level and consistency is key as well

He won’t ever be seen along the likes of Henry , Shearer etc when it comes to that World Class ability but teams need a Barry or Milner to help win titles - and to do it over 20 years - that’s unreal - they will both be in th Prem Hall of Fame at some stage and that makes legends imo

Let's review - nobody piled on UNTIL he stated we were demeaning Milner beacuse we disagreed he was a legend. So our opinion wasn't valid and had to be proved so.

I didn’t say you were demanding his achievements because you disagreed he isn’t a legend

The demeaning of his achievements was in response to looking at the minutes played as opposed to the games played - and that’s why i replied to that post

He came on in the 90th minute to break the record. He’s been a bit part player for quite a while. Without a doubt it’s worth more than a mention but he stopped being influential quite a while back.

As you said, it’s opinions. In my opinion he’s there because of outstanding fitness but he just a journeyman pro now at best.

He started today to break the record ?

No doubt his impact is different now to 3/4/5 years ago

Argue ?

So it’s ok for people to tell me my opinion was wrong ?
If somebody doesn't think somebody is a legend, and you do, then by definition they think you are wrong.

So yes, it is allowed. Otherwise we'd just have to agree with your claim.

Nobody was likely to have posted more than a single comment on this, had their opinion not been continually demeaned and rebutted
