It was nasty and the lad was lucky that his leg didn't snap. I was surprised when it was not reviewed, it is the sort of tackle that leads to a red, with good reason.

Wolves, part of the protected big 6  (but it was a dangerous tackle)
Had the same challenge been made on VVD, it would almost certainly have been reviewed and a red card given.

It is not that Wolves are protected. It is just that Everton are not as important as Liverpool, so the officials feel less pressure to act on any incidents on their players. The Everton fans simply don't have enough voices to be critical of the incident being missed, whereas with so many more Liverpool fans and pundits, it would have been a talking point for weeks if no red card was given. I didn;t even know about this challenge until it was posted in here.

Do you think you can hold onto Mane in this window?

It looks like Strand Larsen is on his way, preparing for the Championship already? I'm not being sarky with this comment, do you think that is how they are looking at it?
We'll keep Mane, no way he goes so soon.

With Larsen, any proper forward thinking club would've accepted the 60m from Newcastle in the summer and had 3 or 4 players already scouted and ready to make a move for, like Brighton have done when Chelsea signed their whole team.
But poorly run clubs like ours, just don't think like that, so we couldn't take the money. I don't think this is a particularly important window for us, get past Derby's points record and try to catch Burnley, I think we can do both of those, but plan for summer.

And people say @Arthur Wedge makes it all about Lpool!🤬
Hmmm, comparing a challenge last night to the only recent example I know of that VAR recommended a red card.

It wasn't about Liverpool, it was about a specific incident. The same would be true if the challenge was to another player in one of the other high profile teams with many fans and representation in the media

Besides, I thought Arthur Wedge was Man Utd obsessed, does he make things all about Liverpool? :ROFLMAO:

Mane does look a very good player , will he stay when/if Wolves go down ?

At his age a season developing more in the championship wouldn’t be a bad thing

Great prospect for club and country

Contracted until 2029, so we'll be able to sell if someone offers enough.

Rather he stayed obviously, a season of championship football rather than sitting on the bench and starting a few games, do him more good.

I thought that was some mega Chelsea contract he was on, ending all the way forward to 2029. Then realised we are in 2026, not 2020

Guess he can look at Tyler Dibling at Everton , maybe he should have stayed with Soton for another season to get regular playing time

Irrespective of how ill-disciplined this Chelsea side seems to be, and how poor some of our performances had been, including last night…

… I just can’t understand how their winner wasn’t ruled offside.

The ball was crossed to Wilson who was offside, we headed it out, never regained possession of the ball, and it then fell to Wilson who scored.

Kind of like how I feel about the umpiring in the ashes… It’s not that it’s the sole reason for results, nor does it excuse the performances, but it’d be nice if we could get some fair and correct officiating in our games. We get absolutely nothing in our favour, for example going back to the Villa game (Maatsen’s handball), it makes a huge difference… and in a league as close as the premier league, if you get a load of those against you in a season, you’re always going to struggle.

It was judged that Wilson wasn’t offside because he didn’t receive the ball. As the laws stand it was the correct decision by the officials.
When he did receive the ball he was then active but onside.

Believe as soon as you headed it out then it’s reset as if it’s a new phase

No im not saying he was offside when he came back to collect the ball. I agree he was not offside then, due to the reasons you’ve said.

He was offside when the first cross came in. The cross was aimed at him, with no other Fulham players around him, and him being there (offside) meant we had to clear the ball. He was impacting play and therefore it is offside.

If Hato had simply left the first cross, the ball goes to Wilson and it’s offside.

Jimenez was also stood in an offside position for the initial cross, but as the ball went nowhere near him, he can’t be viewed as impacting play. But Wilson was also offside and the ball was played at him, ergo he is impacting play.

That’s the subjectivity and it was something that was discussed the other day

If the ball is left to go to him then they check for offside but because it’s headed out then that’s it

I think most agree that the player will be having an affect on the play but he isn’t classed as active in the rules

Maybe the 5cm rule came into play again :)
