I would say England will have as much chance as anyone.
The trouble is I reckon there are about another 10 teams you could say that about

I think it’s very tight at the moment.

Rather than say England won’t win maybe everyone should say who wil win.

Just 1 answer each though.
Be interesting if there was a standout team

France imo will win

I reckon England have potentially a better chance now than they have done in years. Think they are joint second favourites behind Spain. To be fair, looking at Spain's results over the last year or so, they haven't done bad. I think losing to Scotland 2-0 in March 2023 kicked them into action. Behind England and France, you have Brazil. But Brazil have Richarlison so it is hard to take them seriously.

Was watching this weeks podcast with Nicky Butt and Scholes. Butt was saying he is surprised that no one from Man Utd had even ever approached Roy Keane to be manager. He reckons he'd be a Sir Alex type manager, where he'd make sure he'd bring in a team who were experts at the various roles required. I tend to agree, it would have been a really interesting appointment had it ever happened. Keane is astute, he is charismatic, he is a leader, and he is actually pretty funny as well. To me he has actually come across as a pretty decent, engaging guy when doing his work in the media. It would have been interesting to see how he gets on managing a club that has lots of money to spend.

They were then both saying that if they wanted a ticket for a match, they wouldn't even know who to contact. They have season tickets for their kids, treated like any other season ticket. If they are not used for a certain number of games, they lose them. Butt had to phone a switchboard when that happened to him. It just seems absolutely bizarre to me. I thought most clubs would have a person or a small team, whose role it was to keep in touch with past players (especially players who have played hundreds of games), and who could be contacted by those players if ever a need arose. Rather then ex players having to go through switch boards like the rest of us. Maybe that was one of the positions that was made redundant?

Current Betfair Exchange Odds for the World Cup...

Spain 6
England 7.4
France 8.6
Brazil 9.8
Argentina 9.8
Portugal 12.5
Germany 15.5

selected others...

Netherlands 26
Italy 46

So five teams with a decent chance, 2 outsiders, the rest no hopers.

Personally it is good to see
Players having to fanny about trying to get tickets like the rest of us. Let’s them Realise what planks the people
Are Running clubs.

If you listen to the podcast he does I think even Keane realises he wasn't a good manager. Too angry, not willing to compromise and he sees most people as fools. That can't last.

It would be great if Keane was given the managers job at Man Utd

It’s the same as hearing the shouts from those wanting Slot out and for Gerrard to come in

Shouldn’t be near club management in the Prem until they prove themselves

Arteta was smart and spent a lot of time working with Pep as he realised it was the best chance to learn and get big job right away. Lampard, Keane, Rooney and Gerrard all started off as the main man at a lower level. To be fair they've had some success bar Rooney. Gerrard did a great job at Rangers and is clearly being selective about his next job. Lampard did well at Derby and Chelsea for a bit, he's now flying at Coventry and seems only a matter of time before he's in the PL. Rooney just isn't cut out for it but I reckon he'll give it another try. Keane did well at Sunderland but has admitted his temper got the better of him there and at Ipswich. I wonder now he's mellowed if he would be tempted to have another crack?

As Steve said above, hopefully Keane has realised he has it pretty good as a pundit, as he's one of my favourites. Don't want to lose the Keano quotes. 😁

Might get some more entertaining manager interviews though. I remember his answer on whether Robbie Keane would be available for selection after becoming a father: "well, he didn't have the baby though, did he?"

Hmmmm. Wonder if this would have been the outcome had the offender been anyone else.
I suppose FIFA will have to lift the suspensions of any other players going into the World Cup?

As far as I can tell, Otamendi (Argentina), Caicedo (Ecuador) and Salman (Qatar) all recently got sent off, and were meant to face suspensions at the World Cup

Not only at international level.
How many great teams are there in the champions league compared to years past?
Is there a great team in the prem at the minute?
Liverpool won it last year with a pretty average team.
Arsenal top at the minute, they’re nothing special imo.
Thought Chelsea played some of the best footy I have seen this year last night.
But Barca did make it a bit easier for them.

A lesson in how to play against 10 men Amorin should watch it.

I think Amorim could watch most teams that played against 10 men to learn a lesson.

That being said, had Man Utd been playing 10 man Barcelona, I genuinely believe Man Utd would have a reasonable chance of hammering them. The way Barcelona played is the exact way Man Utd actually get success against. Leaving space in behind. Barcelona were woeful.

Whereas Everton played much much better than Barcelona with 10 men. They were rock solid in defence. And Man Utd are notoriously poor against sides that play with deep defences, because they don't really have smart attacking players who can create chances within tight spaces, nor do they have players who can cross a ball or provide an aerial threat in the box. Chelsea would not have had the same success against an Everton side who played like that on Monday, compared to Barcelona (although no doubt they'd still have done better than us). It seemed Chelsea would score every time they went forward against Barcelona, and Barcelona's only hope was that a player was marginally offside.

Also, from memory, Man Utd played against 10 man Chelsea and went 2 nil up this season, before Casemiro got himself sent off.

Caicedo and Otamendi's red cards were for 2 bookable offences....not straight reds. They will both miss one game.
