City fans are not exactly renowned for supporting their team through thick or thin, though, are they?

That’s not a dig. It’s an observation. It must be a rarity in most leagues to see so many empty seats at grounds where the host club has had such enormous recent success. City can’t fill the ground for Champion’s League games and even big games towards the end of a season when the title is up for grabs.

It’s just how it is. If they had two or three barren seasons their support would drop off a cliff.
There’s so much wrong with this is it really worth a reply. But I will give it a shot. When City were worse than what Utd are now they were regularly filling Maine Road with fans. How is that not supporting your team when they are going through the thin. Just outta intrest. Google which club has the highest ever attendance outside of Wembley.
The point is. City are not entitled to just turning up and expected to win. Other fans of other clubs have felt that way since football was invented with the arrival of the premier league, but not City.
I said it last year but it fell on deaf ears so I will say it again.
Football is far better when a game is played and the underdogs win. It happened every week last season and it was good for football.
Yet some “ fans” said it was a poor league.
Oddly enough, Kyle Walker had just said he has regrets about leaving City for AC Milan as the fans were always behind us like the game when Villa were 0-2 up in the final game when City went on to win 3-2 and so the title.
It’s amazing how a players view is different to a fan of another clubs view.
City lost, it’s not the end of the world. And there’s no parades in August.

Gyokeres looks strong for Arsenal certainly not being bullied by defenders and willing to make the runs. Took his goal well and I feel really old seeing a 15 yr old come in and play! Leeds haven’t offered any resistance so far be interesting f to see the Liverpool v Arsenal game next weekend.

That was in the cup against Stoke in the 1930's....I reckon many will have turned up to watch Stanley Matthews.;)

The vast majority of club attendance records were set in the pre-war period, so have little relevance to what has occurred in the last 50 years when football (and associated attendances) arguably spent a significant period in the doldrums.

I did say that when City got beat ( again) last year in the champs league Gykores looked really good. He could be the difference between Arsenal and coming 1st and 2nd

The relevance is that City still had non plastic fans before the prem league.

I’m just relieved to see another team as 💩 as West Ham!

And Sunderland getting beat comfortably at Burnley today highlights how bad our result last week was.

Indeed, they are 2nd (to Villa) in the all time averages for 3rd (old) division teams...in fact their 28,000 average, in the season they were in the 3rd division, is significantly better than their historical average for all the years they spent in the 2nd division (just under 23,000).

Not sure that’s actually addressed the point I made at all, Tash, if I’m honest.

I’ll be blunt and say I’m sick and tired of the digs at my club, the owners, the ground, and everything attached to United. In the last few days you suggested United are widely disliked because of the Glazers. That’s so ridiculous it’s laughable. Fans of other clubs don’t dislike United because of the Glazers. They take the piss out of us. You’re more wide of the mark than when Steve Harmison sent his opening delivery of an Ashes series in Australia to second slip.

The constant swipes at “the swamp” are boring. Sorry. You may think the ground is crap, but it remains a stadium that United can pack with 60,000 fans for a pre season friendly. They still sell out every Premier League game the day the fixture list is announced, despite being in the doldrums for well over a decade. It’s a virtual impossibility for a life long member like me to get tickets for any game nearly two months before the season even starts. I manage to get to games, but am reliant on tickets being returned in the week or so prior to match days.

Few clubs can say that. And certainly not yours. Yet still you deride United at every opportunity. Sorry, but it’s just white noise. I’m expected to suck it up. But woe betide me if I dare to point out the blindingly obvious about another club.

So on MOTD you can deliberately slap someone in the face and it’s not red because it’s just petulant according to VAR.

I can’t belive that’s correct!

I might be totally wrong but I thought Fulham were playing later today?
You either have the wrong team or very scary powers.
If this now happens during the game today you will have to be burnt at the stake.
WITCH!!! WITCH!!

To be honest Billy a lot of the digs at your club come from a place of jealousy.

What happened with United is pretty much exactly what every fan would like to see from their own club.

For years United were the best club in the country not just on the pitch but off it as well.
The way the club built the model around the world is the reason today you can still spend like you do.

Having said that I hope you never win anything ever again, not even a raffle.😉

Off for a cold shower and a quiet word with myself

I think it's just the nature of some football fans, exacerbated by the nature of internet forums.
If one or two fans of any given team comment on their team, it's normally only a matter of minutes before a fan of another team gets involved, which is fair enough on a public forum. But then it's not long before somebody else pipes up with inflammatory remarks about a lucky VAR decision, the 💩 ground, the supporters' lack of perspective, the ownership, etc.
It's just noise and mostly not worth reacting to.
If a fan of another team starts posting the nonsense without provocation it's definitely not worth reacting to.

Where have they all gone ?

A club that can’t sell an allocation to finals and regularly see empty seats during Prem and CL games

What I find a little odd is City have sold 45,000+ season tickets, and no doubt have a waiting list, why are there so many empty seats so often?

A cynic might suggest that a number of those season tickets sales are ghost sales to the owners as a back door way of putting money into the club.

Sorted that but watch this space.😂

It was a black kit only flicking as I was watching the golf

Billy I can think of 115 reasons why I am sick and tired of digs at my club. But it is what it is.
City have gone from Everyone’s favourite second club to public enemy number one. It is what it is.
My thoughts on Utd are exactly the same as what the Utds fans have been for the last 10 years. Mine are probably toned down a bit compared to the Utds fans fans that pay to follow there club.
If Utd are happy with there dated stadium ( and there not coz scruffy Jim wants taxpayer money to build a new one) then fine. But in the last X years City have extended there stadium twice to meet demand. Spurs have built the best stadium In the world. West Ham have moved into the world’s largest council house.
I get your narked at the constant digs. But City losing one game don’t solve the problems at Utd.

For decades Liverpool and Man Utd have had a “rivalry” based on both clubs wanting to be the top club in England

It started with Matt Busby and his incredible team that sadly hurt by a tragic accident but then being the first English club to win the European cup

Then shanks arrived and laid the foundations to battle Man Utd and we then had a period and lauded it above them then Man Utd woke up and for 20 years we watched them dominate and overtake us - sat there jealous as hell as they were run brilliantly , buying the best players winning everything , sorting out a great stadium etc

So to see them struggle is enjoyable from a rivalry point of view but I would enjoy it if we were going toe to toe every season along with Arsenal where there has been a true rivalry as opposed to manufactured ones ( by the media ) with Man City and Chelsea

It’s strange - it was a big game yesterday against spurs and there were empty seats all over the place
