Finally some positive news from the North East as Newcastle confirm the singing of Center Back Malick Thiaw from AC Milan.

Just two strikers and someone to bolster midfield now and it can be considered a positive window.

Blimey....could it be 2 players in in 2 days?

Seemingly we are negotiating with Villa for Jacob Ramsey for around £40m....will help Villa with PSR as it would be pure profit. Just 2 strikers to go then.

(I'll probably wake up and find it was all a dream)

It’s been quite widely reported in the last few days that man child Garnacho has told United that if he doesn’t get his desired move to Chelsea he will sit on the bench for twelve months.

You know what? I say let him rot. Let him sit on the sidelines but take it further. If he’s effectively on strike, his employer should do what all employers do - not pay him. What a petulant, entitled brat.

Even when he was showing promise in his early days, I’ve always had this nagging feeling that, just beneath the surface, there lay a spoiled individual with a real attitude. And so it has proven.

Normally I’d say get rid. But on this occasion, if a player wants to hold a club to ransom then call his bluff. It would send the strongest possible message to others that no player is bigger than the club, and it would go a huge distance towards at long last stopping the tail wagging the dog at Old Trafford. It’s been going on way too long and, at long last, it seems we have a regime in charge who won’t stand for such antics.

Great bit of business from Everton getting Grealish on loan, should get more space playing for Everton instead of City.
Hope he does well.

Agree. Think he’s class and if he’s allowed to play for Everton the same way he did at Villa before going to Man City, Toffees will be very happy.

Not just cos of him, but I think Everton could do pretty well this season.

Agreed. We've seen this with Isak, seeing in with Garnacho, and I'm sure there are many others who go on strike from a club because they don't want to honour their contract. Appreciate Isak and Garnacho have a whole level of different importance to their clubs. But, by letting the player go for a lower fee that you'd have accepted for a happy player, just tells us that if players sulk and refuse to play, they ultimately get what they want.

I would be less annoyed about having to let the player go for a knock down value, if the club could at least refuse to pay the player whilst they are on strike. Or they could fine players / reduce salaries when they publicly make statements making it clear they would like to leave. Would Isak have done what he had done if he stopped getting £120,000 a week, or Garnacho if he stopped getting £50,000 a week?

Much more respect for players like Harry Kane. He wanted to leave Spurs to City, but he had no release clause. Levy didn't let him leave, despite there apparently being a gentleman's agreement. Nonetheless, Kane remained professional. He continued to give everything to Spurs, his team mates and his fans. And then left when Bayern made the offer.

I can’t recall a time where there were so many players throwing their toys out of their pram and refusing to play for their clubs in one window.
Since Forest and Everton were done for FPP, I think clubs and fans have become double aware of the rules. Players may know that clubs are being even more cautious now, and that it is easier to hold a club hostage. Sell me, or it is going to hurt your FPP responsibilities. Agents may be rubbing their hands, and making sure their players know that they can force their club's hand.

Not sure, but maybe that could be one reason? Obviously social media can be part of it, because players can send out whatever excuse and story they want. Give us all a sob story, so some back them. Although social media has been around for a while, so maybe less of a reason why it may be more rife in last year or two.

I believe clubs are allowed to fine players a maximum of 2 weeks wages.
Whether they can do this continually if the player keeps refusing to play I’m not sure but imagine not as it is the same disciplinary issue rather than a new/different one.
Player power has got to ridiculous levels now

This is an excellent point. Instead it’s “poor old palace”.

I’m still genuinely flabbergasted that Steve Parish has somehow managed to dodge any accountability in this whole ridiculous saga
It is genuinely shocking how anyone can say “we didn’t do the paperwork. We knew the rules. We know we didn’t play along with the rules. But can we do the good thing anyway?” Parish is absolutely getting away with it. Somehow!

Very similar situation happened in the WSL National League last season. Wolves came second, easily. Their owners didn’t submit the paperwork at the beginning of the season that would allow them promotion into the championship this season because they simply didn’t believe they’d be good enough. Coaching staff and players did brilliantly and their reward? Sweet F all!

Apparently advanced talks. Get Wissa and suddenly the window looks like a strong one.

Villa fans must be disappointed to lose him though, assuming it happens.

Forest just need (assuming McAtee is announced today/tomorrow):

1-2 Fullbacks
At least one Winger
A Midfielder - Douglas Luiz pls
Striker (We wanted Wissa but he's got his heart set on Newcastle, it seems)

and we'll be fine 😆

Exactly this. I don't get it at all!

Totally agree and I would do the same with Isak !

But we all know money talks.
