They didn’t agree terms because he’s not worth anything near what we are stupidly paying him. He may not be useless but he’s an average Premier League footballer whose got ideas above his station.

We are going to lose money on him, no doubt and I’m still hopeful he or his advisors see sense and can accept an offer from Juve or Napoli but should that not happen I’d rather we lost money whilst he rots in the reserves.

For me, when you factor in transfer fee, wages, players attitude and ability he’s probably the worst transfer we’ve made in the last decade and that saying something as there’s some pretty stiff competition up there.

Yep he more than likely knows he ain't worth 300k a week and his next deal will be nowhere near that, hence making the most of the 300k for another year is likely. Why turn down 15 million. It won't m ke a lot of difference to him in a years time except the 15 million smakaroonies, whiich is not to be sniffed at.

I love how fans say get out there an play 5mill a year is great, like any of us would turn down an extra 10 million for a year. heck in my prevcious job I worked an extra year waiting to get the boot on big money when I could have moved elsewhere for less. So hypocritical

Spain 1 England 2 at half time in the U-21 QF.

After looking like startled rabbits in the first couple of minutes England took the game to Spain and played some excellent football, taking a 2-0 lead on 15 minutes. From the 25th minute or so however, spain have upped the tempo and intensity and are a great watch as they move slickly around the pitch and have a masterful close control of the football with deft flicks that at first entice the opposition in and then the ball is gone again.

Spanish pressure paid as England tried to run the ball out of defence, only to be robbed just outside the area, a couple of exchanged passes opened up the England defence, before an outstretched leg upended the attacker. The resulting penalty was duly despatched. Spain continued to test England who would probably be thankful of the half time break.

Going to be a massive 2nd half. Wouldnt be surprised if this went to extra time.

Yep he more than likely knows he ain't worth 300k a week and his next deal will be nowhere near that, hence making the most of the 300k for another year is likely. Why turn down 15 million. He could although I suspect future offers will be very much based on performances given what he’s shown at United and Chelsea. Means he’ll be taking a lower base and having to show he still retains a modicum of ability.

Personally I do not believe sitting out teh year and taking the 15 million will m ake any difference to how much he gets next cointract both this year or when on a free, in fact teh free will probably kick him a signing on fee as well. Really he seems to hold some decent cards

That’s the issue - he is being paid £15mil a year

Superb 2nd half performance from England.

Dominated the opening stages and really should have extended their lead in the 47th minute. Spain gradually grew but didn't really show the same attacking fluency that they did in the first half apart from drawing a double save from the England keeper midway through the half. The introduction of Elliott Anderson had a calming effect and helped nullify some of the Spanish midfield control. England had a number of chances to extend their lead but some of the shooting was more power than precision. Defensively though, England pretty much matched everything that Spain threw at them...the defending was controlled, rather than desperate.

At the end the players were obviously knackered, a key example was when a through ball saw striker Stansfield trying to get on to it but looking like he was running through mud, then the Spanish defender tripped over the ball, presenting it back to Stansfield who could barely get his legs moving, despite being only 30 yards out and through on goal, the Spanish defence recovering to snuff out the threat.

The game was sealed though in the 93rd minute as a flicked on through ball was not given up by England, the ball was chased down and the Spanish keeper flying out clipped the England player (Rowe?) on the corner of the box. Anderson confidently dispatched the penalty to make it 3-1....the lack of celebration of most of the players ample demonstration of how tired they were.

Every player on the pitch was absolutely superb, they worked their collective arses off, knew exactly what their roles were, ran for each other, knew where each other was, showed for balls, moved into space.....an utterly excellent performance from a team that seemed to know what they were doing.

Netherlands (who beat Portugal earlier) next in the Semi Final on Wednesday.

Denmark v France and Germany v Italy the other QF's played tomorrow.

He's in his mid 20's, and about a decade of a career to go.

He'll never be worth what Utd gave him. But, if he showed he had fight, determination and a willingness to improve, I'm sure he would have a lot of interest, and help maximise what he can earn over the next decade.

If he sits on his arse, with a clear sign he is a problem player and all about the money, it will put off many many clubs. Certainly won't risk as much money on him.

So, over course of his career, he could be seriously damaging his earning potential, just for the sake of picking up £11-15 million next season at Utd (so, £5-7million more than he'd get next year at another club anyway)

Not to mention any loss in endorsements, as I can't imagine he is a player brands will be too interested in when he can't even get in the worst Man Utd PL team

Well a club can either come to an arrangement to pay off the rest of his contract

Or they can give him a free transfer to a club

Both will help Man Utd remove his wages from the books
