I don't think they can. They just can't get rid of him
With everything that is going off at Utd, I cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel re team, squad, owners, manager, tea ladies.

With Ratcliffe admitting Utd have lost money for the last five years, I understand the cut backs but it highlights even more the haphazard way in which the club has bought players and staff.

Furthermore, I struggle to see how in the present financial market and mismanaging of a club, how Utd can expect public money to rebuild the swamp.

Despite losing 2-0 to Liverpool, Doku had Trent Alexander-Arnold's name in the record books as he became The Most Dribbled Past By an Opponent in a Premier League match (11 Times) since 2015/2016. 🥲

Just read this, now I did mention that TAA had a bad un but should he have been better protected by Salah. I have said before, Real Madrid fans will not put up with that.

What was his end product though? How many chances did he create?

They barely have to though, that's the difference between the leagues.

He's also more than competent at defending, if Doku produced nothing with all of those dribbles he's done his job hasn't he.

Liverpool fans will put up with it though. Best right back in the world apparently :ROFLMAO:

I'd say the central defenders probably did their job in stopping his crosses, or tackling him after Doku decided to take on other players after TAA?

It may be unfair on the other Liverpool players for crediting TAA for their good work

I think everyones far too dramatic when it comes to Trent, he's a better player than 99% of other RB's in the world. Done it on the biggest stages in the biggest moments.

City player dribbles past him 11 times, fails to produce anything of use and you think all of that is down to the CB's and nothing to do with TAA.

Did you watch the game?

I did watch the game. I have watched many games. Not once has he impressed me as a defender. He is comical.

That being said, I probably agree he is better than 99% of other right backs in the world. Assuming you are including all Sunday League players and all the way down to primary school level :)

Interesting discussion this, I think there might be a bit of nuance. Whilst Trent obviously doesn't want to be skinned 11 times a game, he'll be well aware of his limitations and this will be taken into account when Liverpool are coming up with their plan.

I did note that Doku stopped trying to take him on in the second half. I don't watch alot of City, was this a text book Doku performance?

Checking to see how many points city got for a winger dribbling past a defender - 0

For his 11 dribbles past someone he created - no chances

Well done the Belgium Adama Traore

I guess it’s looking for some signs of positivity when a team gives such a toothless display at home

First half he was isolated against Doku and Marmoush was coming across to create 2 v 1 - it looked like the play was to try and cut inside but he went on the outside ,( space was filled on the inside ) and then did next to nothing with the ball , he is very fast and has quick feet and will go past most full backs

Second half Grav moved across more and also Mo came back to help so it become a 2 v 2 which helped , it also allowed Mo to be able to sprint clear again ( from a number of quality balls from TAa )

We defended as a team , I don’t think they create a single chance of note , maybe the odd half chance

But will congratulate their winger dribbling past a player 👏

Yeah, your united bias is showing through ever so slightly. I understand it, you cant attract players as good as Trent these days, cant even afford lunch for the people in the training ground!

Trent hasn’t done too bad considering United fans don’t rate him

Just the odd few trophies behind , I am confused why he keeps getting picked if he is so poor and why the likes of Madrid would be after him

Oh well we will console ourselves as he helps us win a few more trophies hopefully

Doku skinned Trent every time but the most impressive thing (and the reason there was no end product) was that he was met by a wall of red every time he went past, Jones/Salah were aware of the danger and supported Trent, and then the next defender was Konate who played awesome.

Liverpool are the hardest working team in the prem, another reason to just send the trophy to Anfield.

Don’t rate him as a defender but his right foot is a gift from god.

The best right back you could sign is AWB. He’d fit your system perfectly. He’s the best tackler in the prem and he isn’t as bad going forward as people say/

If Trent goes then I think someone will come in , but also can see Bradley getting a good run , only issue is he seems to be getting a few injuries

He can get up and down , decent on the ball but his recovery tackles and awareness is very good

But if Trent goes it will be a big loss and sad to see him go

Yeah, it's not like they had Roberto Carlos for a decade is it?

No Utd bias here. Plenty of other non Man Utd fans say the same, so that is just a cheap shot in the debate for me.

There are many Liverpool players who I think are good, some excellent. I'm not in the habit of making up a negative opinion just because I support United. I have never said TAA is a terrible player. He has some brilliant talents that can be utilised by a great side. I simply say he is a terrible defender.

Had TAA come through the Utd academy, and played with Utd, I can guarantee he would be one of the laughing stocks of the PL. His skills wouldn't be utilised as much from an attacking perspective, and he'd get destroyed at the back. Perhaps with Amorim, the 3 centre backs formation would actually suit him much better.
