Yep he’s key IF Southgate sets the rest of the team up right. The manager just has to get the correct formula. Having someone like Rice is huge. He allows the others to play.
Rashford & Henderson shouldn’t even be in the conversation imo.Palmer has to be a certainty for England. Like, even with Southgate in charge, I'm almost 100% he'll make the squad.
Likewise, I'm almost 100% sure Phillips and Sterling will not make it.
Players like Mainoo, Rashford and Henderson I just don't know. Rashford and Henderson would be very lucky to make the squad, Mainoo very unlucky to miss out. But I wouldn't put money on any player either way.
Although Cole has had a lot of goals this season half have been penalties, so in my mind he's not that prolific.
Palmer, Foden, Bellingham, Rice.

That’s potentially a seriously world class midfield and attacking option, specially when you add Kane up top. Been a long time since that happened.
Every England fan seems to think like this.Agreed. We're shaky in defence. We're likely to concede. So set up to score more than they do - works for me. Take a risk...fat chance with Gareth at the helm.
If only he played golf and came in Golf Monthly. Once he read this thread, we'd make him see sense and he'd play much more attackingEvery England fan seems to think like this.
But Southgate is just SO dull.
Yes shows what he’s made of .Credit to him for leaving City to play more football.
If he was still at City he’d have no chance of going to the Euros & no one would be talking about him.
That’s not a dig at City, the competition there is just hard to get a run in the team.
If that's the case, Phillips is definitely on the planeYes shows what he’s made of .
He wants to play not warm the bench
That should tell GS something!
Or hed be drawn into a “debate/arguement” & he’d just quit the job rather than argue the toss.If only he played golf and came in Golf Monthly. Once he read this thread, we'd make him see sense and he'd play much more attacking![]()
The common misconception re Pep is that he has always succeeded because he has had money. His first job was at Barca B. Pre season his Barca B were battering the A team in a “ friendly”. One of the A team coaches told Pep to tell his team to slow it down a bit. He told the guy to “ do one” in no uncertain terms. He was so successful at Barca B, winning the title in his first year he became Barca manager.Yes he is, however i agree with the rest of your sentence on Keys.
Overspending and covering up what they have done is simply cheating. Whether you care or not they have broken the rules and should be punished. Whether we agree on the rules or not it is besides the point. Fwiw, i think clubs should be able to spend what they like BUT, there has to be some sort of rules to stop teams from going under.
To suggest that rules have only been brought in to stop teams from challenging is naive. Financial rules were brought in to protect all clubs and not just the eilte.
Teams do and have wasted money over the years and will continue to do so.
What Pep has created on the football pitch with all those footballers has been incredible and he undoubtedly deserves all the praise and recognition he gets. It takes a lot more than just throwing money at it. So in this instance without all of the investment at City what Pep has done would be impossible.
He will do if he can defend
well deserved.
Hopefully Southgate uses him in the Euros.
That’s the back four sortedPalmer, Foden, Bellingham, Rice.
