So how does the no penalty decision and lack of punishment for Felipe stack up with the top 6 bias?

I've no dog in this fight but would suggest this is somewhat disproved? Certainly on last night's game.

Or is it simply that United aren't considered top 6 anymore 🤔

United probably aren't top 6 at moment :)

Sometimes I do wonder if decisions are influenced at times though, but I don't watch enough of the other teams to know whether Utd are now getting more decisions go against them than for them. The media are that excited about hammering Man Utd every chance they get, that even if a subjective decision goes for Utd now, the officials can get a slating from the media and opposing manager. Decision goes against Utd, no one really cares. Right now, it seems easier to call subjective decisions against Utd. If you are at the top, like Utd once were, is it human nature for officials to side with the top team in subjective decisions? After all, if the top team is favourite to win and a good chance of winning the league, any decision that goes against that team and costs them all the points can be hugely controversial. It's an interesting thought.

Maybe I've also got this feeling when high profile decisions did go Utds way (Onana against Wolves, Rashford against City), and are officials now determined not to put themselves in a position where the world think they've given a favourable decision against Utd? After all, the media attention after those was crazy. Probably be forgotten about if it was most other teams.

Never in a million years would I expect a penalty for Utd with Rashford going down. That being said, if Utd's defenders had taken down an opponent in same way, I'd not be surprised if penalty was given. Utd scored what looked a perfectly good goal, yet the VAR officials seemed to spend an age discussing ways in which it might not be a goal. For most other teams, I suspect it would have been made in 20-30 seconds, seen Varane was nowhere near the play and just given the goal. And with the Bruno strangling incident. Well, never in a million years would I expect VAR to give a red card to the Forest player. However, had Casemiro done exactly the same thing, I've no doubt VAR would have recommended a red card, and the whole world would again say you can't put your hands on a players throat. So, I've basically no confidence in the officials, but I've long given up on almost caring, and resigned to fact Utd are that bad, why worry about officials and the frenzied media anyway.

I wonder if Chelsea get more bad decisions these days, as they are a circus? Albeit the media are a lot more quiet on them, so maybe less of an influence there.

They're trying not to make the corruption too obvious 🤓

Come on now, it is for a good cost. Do it for the North West :)
It's okay, the North West is already well served with top stadiums. Manchester has City's ground, Liverpool will have 2 top ones within the next year or so. The area is already well covered thanks.

If only he had bought Birmingham or Wolves, he might have got away with that one, region needs a new stadium, without embarrassing himself so much 🤭 .

Nahhh leave it to Villa to build a bigger ground in brum thanks! We don't need tax payers money either!

The sheer cheek of it.

I would genuinely love to see proper research/stats done on this issue to settle it. How many contentious issues are given for/against Big Six teams? Both against each other and against The Other Fourteen. Is it skewed depending on whether they're home or away? All that sort of stuff. For example, isn't there some famous stat around no visiting team being given a penalty at The Stretford End of Old Trafford for about 15 years or similar? Maybe someone doing a Sports Science degree will do a dissertation on it at some point!

I definitely believe there's a Big Six bias in terms of favourable coverage in all aspects of media. And I do think it exists on the pitch as well. But would be good to see proper, unbiased research into it to prove or disprove the theory.

I deliberately left your ground out of it. It looks old, never been, but I don't know if it has been updated, plans are in place etc?

Old foundations but updated over time.

2 stands fit for purpose, 2 that could be improved.

Grand plans have been approved for a full renovation of our North Stand to take our capacity from 42k to 50k. This also semi links the 2 sideline stands with one end.

Few pics and ideas of it here: https://www.avfc.co.uk/villa-park/future/

However - new president of business operations etc has put a hold on it for now for some reason.

Needs to be completed by the Euros in 2028

according to ETH the criticism of Fernandes and his over acting is pathetic - i guess he didn't see the rolling around on the pitch then jumping up and everything was fine over the weekend

It apparently was a “serious” injury and he has a very high pain threshold- you wouldnt know that by the way he is always squealing anytime he is touched

"I see social media criticising him," added Ten Hag. "It is pathetic. He had a serious injury but he continued to play on Saturday and then also he fought to be part of this game.
"He has a very high pain threshold and last year, he did something similar against Spurs and I think in the semi-final (against Brighton). It shows his leadership."

It’s embarrassing- it’s not “leadership”
